I really wouldn't bother at the moment, i wouldn't consider buying a car untill late jan or feb. you will probably find its still up for sale then, a lot of cars will come into budget, so hang on for as long as you can as there will be some propper bargains coming up over the next few months.

That car at that price is very good . . . assuming no finance o/s and Cat C/D listing. Everything else is covered under warranty. He did say its a distress sale.
If you want a year old car then for 12k it's a very good buy- that would have retailed new at over 25k easily.
It is quite quick and revs well for a diesel, and the mid-range certainly surprises the usual reps on the motorway. Its quite comfortable, with a well built cabin, but when you think of what other cars that budget will buy, its nothing special imo. Quite bland actually.
It is a noisy engine, and for a diesel we only got 40ish mpg on average. Not a good car for town as it stalls easily, and the turbo lag can catch you out leaving you in sticky situations. When in town the engine sounds rubbish, but for long distance motoring its great, as when it's up to motorway speeds the engine is much less audible, and alot more relaxed.

Forgot to mention we had the avant, and it's back window got smashed in a hotel car park one evening, and some contents were stolen. There's a weak point located around the bottom of the screen, where a theif handy with a screwdriver just wedges it up and the screen just shatters.
Quite practical though, but more of a 'lifestyle' statement rather than dedicated load lugger. We had the avant because it looks a lot better imo.

Which other reps are you talking about? They are all driving diesels as well with anything between 1.9 (~110bhp) and 3.0 (~230bhp) engines. It is therefore nothing more than average.Edited by alock on Friday 14th November 16:53
There is a lot of rubbish spouted on this site. The fact is that this is a very good car at a very good price.
If the diesel/estate combo suits your needs go for it, because that combo on an Audi will always hold value well.
If you are looking for a different driving experience then buy what you want in your £8k range.
If you are undecided and can afford the extra finance, then buy it and run it for a year whilst you make your mind up - you will lose little or nothing in a years modest mileage at that price and a £3/4k headstart.

It may not be a good price when the Seat badged version hits the showrooms, though - as I suspect they'll be around the same price as a 2 year old Audi badged car.If the diesel/estate combo suits your needs go for it, because that combo on an Audi will always hold value well.

The Seat also has the upgraded cabrio dash, rather than the saloon / estate dash.
This is, of course, assuming it's the previous shape - I don't think new shape cars are that cheap yet, though.
