Bell clause 2

"If your car is 3 years older or more, we may decide to repair it with recycled parts or non-oem parts but of similar standard"

Recycled parts? ie scrapyard? WTF!! Is this just incase of any limited edition models or is this standard nowadays?

Not necessarily a problem, unless its brakes or similar and the repair is warranted.

Yes I agree they are more than likely talking about spurious panels (ie) not original pressings.

More or less yes as the difference between the admiral group and anyone else is at £400+ after trying various factors on
confused & also Norwich & directline (no longer take modifications on website so will call tomorrow as rate them highly).
Did read the Bell policy book in full just now hence the clause above (studied contract law as part of uni course) so know the 'worst case' stuff they could pull (and probably will) and comfortable with the risks.

Off topic but A-Plan, Adrian Flux , Noel Dazly were all useless on callbacks (im abroad and returning so the international number put them off, tight gits!!)

I'd be fine with that, as long as the finished product is the same.

I've a six year old Mondeo with 160,000 miles on the clock, wouldn't have a problem with any of the panels being replaced with a pattern part. Most of the current ones have some small knocks and dings on.

The Boxster of the same age, they can f*ck right off.

Oh, I don't know - if they used some Mondeo panels on the Boxster, it might look slight less gay.

Look on the bright side.

Wifey had some old bint drive in to the side of her, shagged the two nearside doors, the assesor wanted to total loss the car, i said i would be happy to accept a contract price for the repair even if it meant using seconhand doors, car was repaired for a fixed price and had two secondhand doors fitted. we were happy because it was a good motor and didnt want the hassle of looking for another car.

Know an ex-XXXXXX franchised dealer ( bandit ) who was stripped of his franchise, due to the fact that they were using "recycled parts" - it could have something to do with the fact that they were doing this unbeknown to anybody and charging for new panels.

I wouldn't have a problem with this if i stopped my cars being written off and if the finish was good. There not going to put knackard pannels on as the labor cost in making them good would be to high.

I bought a low millage 205 gti years ago for £250 when similar cars were around £1k more because someone have keyed both doors, bonnet and tailgate. I got all the panels for £50 in the right colour and ended up with a bit of a bargin.

True, very true.

I had the misfortune to insure with their sister co, Admiral, for two years (price - substantially cheaper in yr 1, still cheapest in yr 2).

No accidents, but the sheer grief I went through every time I wanted to make a change, or got some unexpected post through from their god-awful automated system telling me (it appeared) that I was going to be charged for something or another...NEVER again. Not if they were the only ins. co in the country would I go near them...their incompetence actually makes NTL and BT seem professional!!!

When renewal comes around, RUN!!!

Have saved the quote. problem is the difference to nearest 'reputable' insurer is 400+ so that buffer is large enough to be tempting, if was a hundred then no brainer. Directline gave a quote online 150 less without mods (doesnt have the option) so will call and see what they can do- as been with them a few years ago and were very good.

Have you tried A-Plan? Their customer service is the best I've encountered in the insurance industry!

Went on the site and filled in the form...didnt call back. Neither did Adrian Flux. (abroad and returning hence gave a foreign no which is probably why)
