1. The Lamborghini Jalpa.
I love these cars, and in my dream garage it would sit alongside an 80's Aston Vantage. It's another one of those cars that I dream about, and I could look at all day long. In my eyes it is just perfect.
Not everyone agrees though, and it's not the most celebrated Lambo made. For that reason alone I thought it deserved a PH discussion

Paul,
Why have i got this mental picture of the PH office in Haymarket towers being a broom cupboard in the basement with you, Pete, Will and Oli?
Lambourghini Jalpa? Hmmmmm i had a mad thought about one a few months ago when i had some spare money going about, even went to see one at Top Gear cars in Scotland. A fantastic little car, not the obvious choice when it comes to 80's Lambo's, based on the silouette (sp?), peach of a V8 and a targa roof for wind in your bald patch.
You can buy a Jalpa pretty cheaply but there is always the chance of a massive bill as it is a Lambo from the bad old days.
I have a soft spot for runts of the supercar litter, the Maserati Merak being another favourite of mine along with another Lambo, the Urraco.
As an object for living out your Miami Vice fantasies though it is second to none!

Are you viewing our office webcam? I'm with you on the Merak, dare I say it but I quite like the look of a standard, pristine Mondial too.
Unloved by most, loved by me.

Mondial QV was a cracking car, first Ferrari i ever drove. I'll never forget driving it as a snotty nosed 18 year old.

The Ferrari F50 seems to be fairly unloved, I personally think they're amazing.
I think the problem comes from the comparison to it's predecessor (F40) and it's contemporary (Mclaren F1) 2 of the 3 greatest supercars ever made.
Also the Jaguar XJ220 seems to conjour up many stories of woe and painful ownership but I love them to bits.

very true about the F50 - though in EVO when they did that giant group test, it came out as the best of the fast Ferraris..I think the problem comes from the comparison to it's predecessor (F40) and it's contemporary (Mclaren F1) 2 of the 3 greatest supercars ever made.
