BMW Z4 - New Image

'Official' image shows 6 Series-esque rear for Z4

Another day, another leaked shot of the Z4 – but this time we get to see the rear. Yesterday’s image was an amateur spy shot of the finished car from the set of upcoming film Solitary Man and today’s shows what appears to be an official press shot.

The car is not due to be unveiled until December 15 but the new image shows the Z's bulbous, slightly 6 Series-like, behind. According to the pic from BMWblog.com, the wheel arches have been accentuated and overall the car has less of a Bangle look to it.

The rear lights have LEDs and strips across them similar to the 5 Series and there are two large exhaust tips sticking out of the back. The rumour is that the car will be launched as a hard-top convertible initially and a soft-top will follow.

Exactly how I imagine a European Viper would look, I like it much better!

Edit:- Damn, beaten to it!

Website says: Update: It has been confirmed, it is definitely the real deal. The car looks a little bit disproportionate due to the brochure scan.

It must be early or I am not thinking, but what is the point in "the car will be launched as a hard-top convertible initially and a soft-top will follow."

A folding hard top and a soft top? Would not a coupe make more sense. I never liked the bangle car, but I have to say this looks worse.

I don't know how anyone has the nerve to complain about Bangle, when something as dog-ugly as that gets squeezed out into the world.

Back end looks fantastic. Not so sure about the front... it's a bit too dull for my taste. Looks quite uninspired.

Designed by lots of people called Chris Bangle, who never met each other.

looks ok from that pic. Can't be any worse than the ugly ill-proportioned current Z4.

The Z4 had to called 4, to distinguish it from the Z3 which was perceived as a failure. This is simply a new design - they didnt rename the 3 series the 4 series when they brought the new model out!?

Reminds me a little of the scirocco's rear end, especially the 'squashed' lights.
