Most likely another diesel engine running itself to destruction, due it being fueled by its own lube oil from faulty turbo seals.

There was probably something else wrong with that car, when my neighbour fell asleep in his beamer after about 2 minutes on the red line the ECU cut the throttle, around 30-40 seconds later full throttle again, this went on for a while until I finally went outside and woke him up.

Not sure....but they must be asleep as they are totally lifeless sat in the car while it is revving away.

Not sure I'm allowed to disclose this, but it was actually Q showing James how to use the smoke screen on his new car. As for the noise, well the decision to go for a diesel was purely fiscal.

Instead of the person just watching and filming, could they not have attempted to wake up the occupants or turn off the ignition?

It seems a little odd all round. I would have thought someone would try to wake up the people who were asleep in the 4 mins of vid or a long time before as it was smoking at the start. I have been on a garage forecourt with someone who had a coolant hose split and the steam had people on the tannoy requiring answers, rightfully so.
But then again I find it hard to believe anyone would sit in their car when it was making noises like that especially as if it was dieseling it will probably stop when something breaks.

The wife turned the engine on to warm the car in the garage .....at 20:00 in the evenning , it was -20c outside

In the morning she set off to work 07:00 car was still running !!!

Is this not a case of turbo diesel with the seals on the turbo failing and its running on the lubricant from the turbo? or something along those lines.

I can only imagine he was on the phone to someone who knew what to do, as switching off the ignition does nothing, and when he found out what to do he stopped it.

Manual process is something like: Put in 6th gear let clutch out and foot hard on the brake.

Dont know what it is in an auto.
