well today was............

the first day of the rest of my life.............
Saturday night between 12 and 1 i lost control of my ford focus, went through a telegraph pole in mid air and ended up hitting a solid stone wall up-side-down. my right collar bone is in three pieces as is my right shoulder blade and to finish that shoulder off the main bone through the middle is in three pieces. The thing is i should be dead, but other then the 'bag of spanners' shoulder i have not one cut, just various tiny pinch like bruises. No damage to any organs or head. I was discharged from hospital and will have to return for operations next week, i am in more pain then i ever imagined possible, i am dependant on care from gf and friends, i have lost the ability to perform 99% of my daily functions but f
k me i know how lucky i was! Reason being i was shown the pictures of the car earlier (i will post them in the morning when e-mailed to me). Prior to seeing the pictures i will admit to shedding tears today, when my friends had to break into my flat because i couldn't get up, or when my gf had to sponge me clean in the shower. But now i'm just grateful to be even having to deal with these issues. The road to recovery will be long and i am so lucky to be in one piece! my post count will rocket now (if a little slowly with one hand) with three months of no activity, but i refuse to complain.

Good to hear you've come through it and have started to heal.
What caused you to lose control of the car?
speed, black ice and sheer sheer stupidity. doesn't feel like i'm healing yet, have to wait for the trauma to settle in the shoulder before they can operate, that and the doctors need a meeting to decide exactly how they will pin the shoulder blade if they even can. I have to say the doctors and nurses were excellent, i am forever in their debtWhat caused you to lose control of the car?
