Following from the Dyno day thread I was wondering if people would be up for this? Shakespears is centrally located and a very nice friendly circuit. Over on the hsv forum we've used the place quite a few times last year and they now are letting us pre-arrange group days on their run what you bring sessions.

If we could select a day on their callender (or perhaps outside of it depending on numbers) we could make it a fantastic day out with good friendly competiton. If you haven't done it, its very addictive. Its not just a boring 1/4 and its over, you will want to better your own time and get into friendly comps with similar cars.

Shall we make a go of it? I know some will say "Santa pod" but Shakeys is typically a lot easier to get many more runs in a day. Last time I managed over 20 compared to 4 at the pod. We could even make a weekend of it.

What say you?

Will be sorting out a meet next season for the 1/4
Some guys from Rebel V8 are up for it too.
Shakey is the better track IMHO
However Santapod is good.

With Shakey you can drive around the water bath so so don't wet your fronts
and can reverse into if required to pre-heat your tyres (burnout)

Will be up for this one.

madhehe its high 13s low 14s now. hoping to get a mid thirteen run this year, got a feeling using baked rubber isn't helping much and hope a new cam + clutch could see me low 13s high 12s

I'd be well up for coming along to this. Only live down the road from there, could also organise a few more people to come along in a nice selection of motors.

Mine looks a bit different , traction is still an issue , best of 12.8@116mph so far but made a big step forward a few months back , might see a 12.5 next year if i still have it

I couldnt control the boost when the nitrous came in which limited the amount of nos i could put in and what boost i could run, i thought the problem was due to the small turbo i have but it was more related to the way the car was mapped.

I've mapped the car differently and found i can control the boost levels with the nitrous , ie running a rich nitrous mixture will reduce peak boost this should allow me to run more nitrous safely

Been there once and it had a really friendly, grass roots atmosphere where Santa Pod is alright but a bit boring after the first time. It was like actually being in '60s America (it was an American car day). Suitably ramshackle to be really amazing it is still present, so worth supporting I reckon.

Would be up for going because it is near to me, although do not think it is worth running either of my cars. I mean I'll just break a driveshaft in one recording an unspectaclar 15.x, and do a pointless 19.x in the other...

I live in Warwickshire so it would be rude not to.

I'll link this to the Midlands forum for some local support.

It's a 500 isn't it? From the US guys that run those, the factory time is 14.7 but they get under 14.5, and have had to try harder to get to the low 14s, but 13 was too much something of a hopeful and distant goal.

You'll struggle with the non switchable ASR surely.

Does the access road to the track still look like it was shipped in from Basra or is it now passable for people not driving a Land Rover? It's a little while since I've been there though so it may have changed completely!

Previous owner has a slip for 13.9 at 107 from the car already.

Dave!
