Business partner is looking for a High Performance car under 5/6 years of age and no more than 60,000 miles on the clock in the region of £8,000 to £10,000

What car would you recommend and why ?

My choice would be the e46 M3 as its got 4 seats, they are realiable and a great day to day car with 340+ bhp on tap.

I saw a thread yesterday where a Honda Civic Type R GT 57 reg went for something like £9700, or you can probably get a good condition MK5 Golf GTI for that much.

Can you really get an 03 onwards sub 60k mile M3 for under £10k? I know they are falling but the £10k ones are usually a bit leggier than his requirements surely.

I was going to suggest a TVR Chimaera but your 5-year rule blew it out.

ETA This should be in General Gassing

(I'll remove this post if I see a non-auction price for that M3.)

I'm recommending a Murcielago.

Thats what I was thinking so I just looked on here and they seem to be a lot more than 10k.

I had one of these = Awsome cars when it worked.

Where can you find one for that price, age and mileage ?

Remember 6 years max and £10k plus max 60,000 miles .

Sold me E46 convertible last year and buyer is now receiving offers from main dealer with 62,000 fbsh including hardtop and pioneer sat nav, 19's smg etc for £9,000.

Alfa 147 GTA.

Not sure how good the M3 would be in that price range.

Look at the RX8, apart from the BMW's its about the only 4 seater/4door RWD mainstream car and itcomes with an LSD too, and good kit level.

You can't really quote buying in prices offered by dealers (who won't want to take stock in unless it's so cheap they can't refuse it) and what you pal can actually buy one for though, they won't be retailing it sub £10k and the seller should be able to exceed the budget with a normal private sale. If he is still looking to offload it and is willing to sell it for sub £10k, then yes I think your business partner should buy it.

Fair Point Touching -
Dealer may retail it for £4,000 more like the one on BMW official website in Ashford.
