Want a free Mk2 Golf Gti??

Ok I've got a 1988 E reg Mk2 Golf GTi that has been cluttering up the drive at Lizard towers for far too long and basically its yours for gratis if you want it. (well perhaps a few beers in renumeration would be nice )

Details-

Black, 2 door, all complete & in reasonable condition & a solid shell- I reckon £200 would see it MOT'd & running if you are handy with the spanners.

Engine is basically just worn & had sod all compression on number 1 cylinder- a piston ring had scored the bore pretty badly & currently the cylinder head is off & all the bits are in the boot.

So it would either need a rebore or prob a fair bit cheaper to get a complete 2nd hand engine (available for as little as £100) or just a block & bottom end as I have got a decent recently rebuilt head you can have for a few quid.

...and there's a bent Mk 2 Gti been dumped round the back of mine that you could grab the engine out of... it's on gravel, nose into some bushes, and has no wheels, so not very easy to get it out, but it's free.

Having recently acquired a 20 foot fishing boat (which needs plenty of work), a 10 foot dinghy (also needing work) with outboard (work done, running nicely), and slowly changing the head gaskets on the Subaru, I think Mrs S might have something to say about taking on another project....
