Does anyone know why this months mega test of performance cars in CAR magazine does not have a single TVR in it?
How can they announce the VXT as the PCOTY when the test was so clearly incomplete? Given that the T350 set a 1.27 time on the Top Gear track, doesn't that make it a performance car too?

Dis I miss something?

As has been poined out before "CAR Magazine" do not do TVR's - or to be more correct not unless they are criticising or taking the piss! Rich...

if you notice they are all from large-scale production companies, i.e. Porsche, Ferrari... maybe TVR didn't/wasn't included in the running because of limited production.

Then again, maybe TVR didn't want to let one of their cars be judged up against all the others - how bad would it appear for their car to be "worse" than a SMART roadster (not saying it would but it could happen). On the other hand, which new cars have TVR released this year, the Tamora was last year (?), the only new one been the T350 series - there isn't a Performance model in their, they are all just pooh-fast-and-nice.

Hi, I think you will find that the TVR was not included in the PCOTY because of it's extrememly poor reliability and crap workmanship. I certainly agree that it should be there, but the correct "all round" car was the very worthy winner

TVR aren't that bad, if you look in the TVR forum you get a few complaints about breakages and the like, but then look in any of the other forums...

People don't post "my car drove to Dover from Newcastle and didn't break", but they will post "my car drove broke down half way to Dover from Newcastle"... it's the nature of humans - they don't report good things, they just expect them to happen!

As I said, I reckon the reason why they aren't there is there isn't a performance model. Take all the cars there, they only have one engine, one gearbox... (bar Merc where they specified a specific model), compare the Txxx series - it's more like the BMW 3 Series, if TVR did the "T450 GTR" or something (dunno the badge/model names...) Then Car-Mag would probably be more inclined to include them.

Then again, I can't actually remember reading about a TVR in Car-Mag since I started reading it 1yr ago :hmm:

Apache, I am speaking for the experience of my ownership of a VXT for 6 months and my neighbour's ownership of a T350. His went back to the dealer after 6 weeks never to return because the workmanship was so bad. He was not willing to accept the normal TVR followers phrases like "what do you expect?, it is a hand made sports car"

I have never had such a fantastic feeling in a car as when driving the VXT.

So your vast knowledge is based on one car, your neighbours?

I don't agree with the TVR comments, but all VX turbo owners are gay and wear hair nets.

Well firstly we have to ignore duckula cos he has shit for brains and would not know what a conversation was if it smacked him in the mouth.

Secondly to Apache, I did not say I had a vast knowledge and just saying we all have different view, mine happens to be with CAR on this one.

Thirdly to DustyC, my post was not designed to upset anyone and nor will it if the reader has any intelligence. I am not with th " your car is better than mine brigade" and therefore jsut straight talking. My neighbour's T350 was a fan-bloody-tastic motor which made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up, but this is of no use if it cannot be used because of reliability and workmanship issues.

Cheers

Gerry
