I think it takes more that a little bit of courage to "on air" and reveal some parts of your life like that. (need a feckin BIG horse too)

He's still got problems though, sadly. You could see through his defences a couple of times at the difficulty in coming to terms with his illness (and thats not a critisism).

Paul..I agree with the first part - the media will harrass him like hell.
He's already had professional help...locked up for a month.

From what I recall his wife left him...because he hit her (please correct me if I'm wrong)...a heavyweight boxer against slight female...little bit of imbalance there.

H'es been told to do the right thing, and allow a glimpse at his private thoughts, it not just for the benefit of the reporters, he must also be pretty brave to announce it, all power to him he'll need it over coming months

I hope he makes a good recovery, and is surrounded by sympathetic people, not vultures.

Was there any actual evidence that he DID hit is wife? - apart from his celebrity status, the attitude of tabloid journalism, and our perception that accusation = guilt?

Hated seeing Frank in panto and other shows which made him look really silly.

Otherwise I have loads of respect for the guy and really hope that he pulls through all this.

He deserves better, although no one ever has the right to hit his wife....

I used to live in the Brentwood area and would often see the big fella wondering around - always ready for a chat with anybody.

I would suspect he would find the comments here funny and add a few himself!

I think the press in this country find it hard to get their head round "heros" who are in fact, good, honest, hard-working dedicated grafters who happen to be simply decent, ordinary people. They did the same to Mansell who - from personal experience - was far from the winging bore they made him out to be - just a working class bloke from Brum made good!
