Just had my Van clamped because of no tax, pulled it off my drive to clean out the garage and parked over the road! I'm no tax dodger but due to being in the sh#t with money and the credit crunch, I was waiting till I got some work. anyway drop the violins lol

The van is on finance, can they crush it, I owe 12k still!

Just worth thinking about.

Not relevant...it was on the road.

You'd think these DVLA tossers would exercise a bit of discretion in cases like this...

I'm beginning to wish I'd reported this one for illegal parking..

Sorry no sympathy! I did say drop the violins! I'm not asking for that geez! I have just lost my business and I'm on the floor. When it's like that, well in my world, you just keep getting kicked..! so trust mate your sympathy would not make the slightest bit of change!

Thanks for all the other tips though guys!

Pull up behind the camera, nip out, lift the bonnet, and start looking for that mysterious knocking you just heard from your engine, see what they do.

Ok, here's the plan.

1. Let down the tire on the clamped wheel
2. Jack up van
4. Pull the clamp away from the wheel and you should be able to get a tire-iron behind it to remove the wheel
5. Remove wheel (and clamp) from van
6. Slide clamp off wheel (which is now small enough to slip out due to flat tire)
7. Fit spare wheel
8. Drive van off the road
9. Deny all knowledge

Steps 1 to 8 will definitely work. Step 9 is fingers-crossed time! smile

Angle grinder. Go for the tab that the padlock is through rather than the padlock. Remove from wheel. Put van back in garage. Buy a matchbox transit van (or whatever model of van you have). Get the tab welded up on the clamp. Reassemble the clamp in the road with your own padlock on it and the toy van in the middle. Deny all knowledge, ie "van was in garage all day officer".

If you do this, post pics!

Hand back the clamp in on piece un damaged and there is not much they can do if i remeber correctly. Ask in SP&L first though.

Do you definitely have to tax it? Can you not declare SORN now, pay the penalty for having kept it on the road untaxed and undertake to remove it from the road immediately the clamp is removed? Guess not but might be worth asking.
