I guess the majority of people in here seems to be in to cars since an early age.
I don't remember, in my teens, to have any special interest in the subject, with rare exceptions for things like the F40 vs 959 clash and, occasionally, some F1. Even after getting my license I didn't had the slightest care about it and happily drove any sh1tty thing in wheels as long as it took me from A to B.
It was after finishing Uni and beginning to work that I started thinking in buying a car (until then I just borrowed a old econobox from parents).
As I'm a methodical guy I started to buy some magazines for prices and information (on the most basic stuff like what were the makes and models of cars that I saw in the street!).
By chance then I came across a picture of one of this beauties:
As my blood started to boil I searched for information in the web, books and magazines (a complete geek, I know) and I started to learn about strange things like "handling", weight distribution, "oversteer"
To make a long story short it took me almost 2 years to find the right one and the rest is history: became complete petrolhead, weekend blasts, stupid grin
, Le Mans e all that jazz.
So are there any other late bloomers out there with similar stories or is this thing genethic?

I'm not a late bloomer in the sense of wanting a sports-car, but in pure knowledge and ability, it's only in the past 1/2 a year or so that I have become "better".
I'm becoming somewhat handy with the ole tools (surprising really
), getting better at spotting problems, oh and of course, handling a lightweight, high-reving thrashy little motor
it beat a Porker the other day up a bank (ok, it was a Boxster S, but still
I stopped at the speed limit tho, until then, I was holding my own very nicely)
