I've bought a reg off the DVLA site.. so the transfer fee is already paid. It says I should send the form, my V5 and MOT cert. Does the MOT certificate have to be the original or can it be a copy? Knowing my luck it'll get lost in the post or something.

Anyone know?

Thanks smile

It needs to be the original, they amend it and stamp it to reflect the new reg.

Could it be transferred at a local DVLA office?

Probably, but I hate the place! It'll be easier to just post it I guess.

I've done a couple of rego transfers of the last year or so and both times my local DVLA office (Chelmsford) has been superb. It was all done & dusted within 15 minutes and I could put my new plates on immediately.

If you do it by post, at what point do you know to put the new plates on?

Posted start of the week and arrived today. Have received confirmation, new tax disc and new mot cert, meaning it is now transferred. V5 will follow but that doesn't stop you using the car on the new reg. Tell you what, people slag the dvla off but I've had to deal with them quite a lot in the last 2 years and had no problems. Theyve generally done a faster turn around than expected on everything I've asked of them. Pleased!
