Only fairly low budget sprint car, want to get some work carried out ready for the coming season but keep changing my mind about what to do, or more importantly, which order to do it, because eventually I'll prob do it all.

Car is a gti-6

Internal engine mods out of the question this year. Some other limitations on mods, but thus is what I'm currently thinking, in this order:

Plate diff
325 Lb springs front and thicker torsion bars at rear (dampers already done)
Grp A engine mount
Lightened flywheel and clutch
Strut brace
Lightweight alloys

Already have bigger arb, exhaust, filter, new disks and pads, other little bits.

I don't know the specifics of these cars, but I think you'd see the biggest returns from the diff and the springs/arb.

The others to me seem more like 'nice to have' things that you may not notice a huge difference with (but those little improvements will add up).

Also, can anyone tell me, if using height adjustable coilovers, is it better to have the damper more fully extended with a higher spring seat and with a smaller length spring, or the damper more compressed with the adjustable coilover seat low with a longer spring??? I'd have thought the second option

Anyone?

Maybe refresh all bushes etc?

Damper travel should be such that you hit the bumpstops before bottoming out the damper, regardless of spring length. Bottoming out dampers leads to bad things.

Bushes would also be helpful - poly all round, but be warned, it can be a pain of a job. Will certainly tighten up the car though.

Doogz appears to have far better knowledge of this particular car.... my advice was based around more general recommendations.

Depending on where you get polybushes from, I believe SOME are designed to keep flex in the right direction for rear wheel steer.... that was certainly the case on a set I got for an old Mk2 Golf Gti.

Save some cash spare for things that wear or break.... pads/disks etc. And just go have fun!

Try the owners forum, plenty of people with track/road and track/race cars on there who can help.

Don't get hooked up on modding the rear suspension unless you have specific issues you are addressing. Quite often it just results in a hard suspension that skitters around unpredictably, and loses cornering stability by introducing unpredictable oversteer.
