Having a large fuel leak on the float chamber on one of the carbs on my toy landrover I have stripped the carb and replaced the offending o-ring with one from a o-ring kit.

Do i need a special compound of o-ring to deal with petrol.

If so how long is this repair likely to last as i have a trial on Sunday

I would be surprised if it was not resistant. You could test one in a dish of petrol and if it doesn't swell up or dissolve in 24 hours I would say you will be fine.
