Have been browsing AT and the classifieds this afternoon I am considering selling my car and running around in something cheaper for the summer before I get something nice and have spotted a couple of "relative" bargains, such as;

RX8 £3.5k - £4k

S2000 £4.5k - £5k

Boxter 2.5 £5k

I was looking for something cheaper but still "nice" looking and enjoyable to drive and I would quite happily have either of these as a keeper, I am aware that each could throw a up few large bills especially the boxster and rx8 but if you are willing to do a bit of spannering yourself then I think these would not be bad buys

How good are the S2000s for that price?

If they aren't ropey that's an excellent prospect for the money.

I can’t imagine them being too bad, may be a bit tatty cosmetically, a friend paid 6k for one last year and has been fine although roof will ideally need replacing for next winter. They are a Honda and the engines are very reliable, I think a bad one may need gearbox, bushes etc checking but that’s probably it, nothing out of the ordinary for the age and type of car

I keep looking at 52/53 plate Range Rovers, £11k will secure a <100k miles example. However tax is £415 and the thing will do sub 20mpg. It makes purchasing a Defender look expensive in many ways, a RR offers far more bang for buck.

I borrowed my friends X5 4.6 last weekend to tow my friends project 911 and quickly tired of the fuel consumption! Didn't really gel with it to be honest. I much prefer my neighbours FFRR in nearly every way, especially the interior.
