Today a car driver showed me his fist, and looked pissed off and was yelling inside of his car. He looked like he wants to fight me..
Are such drivers really prepared for a fight? or is he feeling "untouchable" in the car ?

Do you guys have experiences with such lunatics ? What would you do ?

Just drive away and keep calm...why escalate the situation?

Saw a mad road rage incident last year - don't want to think bout it

I had some loon waving a baseball bat at me on the M1 once.

He was not prepared to let me in the outside lane (I was indicating) and he sped up to close the gap right up, so I pulled out anyhoo. And he chased me down the motorway for miles waving a baseball at me. Bizarre!

I find the people often in these camps are the smaller built men, who think they are untouchable. Its amazing when you stop, block them from moving forward, and step outside, with a 6ft 1, 18stone, no fat frame, people suddenly seem very sheepish!! Maybe the goatee and skinhead help too

I had a guy tailgating me in icy weather a few years back. I slowed and indicated as if I was pulling in hoping that he would go past (As I recall I was on a two lane road anyway) but he just continued to tailgate me. Then he shot past me (I was driving a Hyundai Getz hire car at the time) and brake tested me. In icy conditions. He then stopped the car and with steam coming out of his ears walked up to the car window as if he was carrying a barrel under each arm. He wasn't particularly big or scary, he just looked like your average salesman or office worker or whatever. I wound down the window and he said "What the f*ck do you think you're doing?"

I said "Its Icy, you were tailgating me and I did not want to have an accident."

He then looked very confused, stormed off back to his car and drove off. Doubt he was scared of me or anything... but maybe he realised he'd committed himself to something that there were only two ways to get out of. One would be to start something violent, and the other would be to back down. Luckily he chose the sensible course. I was ready to drive off if he kicked off, and would not really have worried if he was in the way of my car or not, nor if I hit his expensive repmobile. After all, I was driving a Hyundai Getz, I'd be doing the world a favour! smile

I've only come close to a fight once. After following a quickly, but not particularly well driven 993 down some country roads on my way home once, the driver just stopped in the middle of the road. I had no choice but to stop behind him and he got out and waved a baseball bat at me, shouting that he'd shoot me (I can only assume with a gun rather than the bat he was wielding!). I guess he must have been a bit peeved that i was keeping up in a 1.6 Focus, I was certainly not tailgating him. After that he drove off, needless to say I didn't follow him!

Do you do that often? Climb out of your car to confront people? It'll end badly for you someday, oh great giant dude with the scary shaved head.

Edited for mongy speeling.

See very little road rage here in Texas, possibly because the stakes are higher and the 'big man' bullying a middle aged housewife could quite easily end up with a .45 bullet in his skull.

It amazes me the amount of s in the UK who seem happy to abuse other motorists (usually when the problem is generated by their own stty driving) because they seem to think there will be no repercussions.
