Ok, so I am not in favour of the E.U. but most of that is sensationalist propaganda.

Should go down well here then

This Gentleman is a reality check:

"The Labour Government's Regional Assemblies will mean the end of England"

This is one of Prescott's personal ambitions (to create regional assmblies), which can only mean more jobs for complete Wan*ers like him.

And as for ID Cards...

I don't see what's wrong with a bit of anti-Europe propaganda. I mean, we get pro-Europe crap forced down our throats every day!

It will be interesting to see how Tony will get us all to vote 'Yes' in the referendum... expect to see obscene amounts of your tax money spent trying to get you to see things their way.

Being anti-EU is one thing, being a bigot is quite another.

I was speaking to a Finish mate today and he was telling me most of the EU wants Britain out, apparently we aren't showing enough commitment...

Fair enough, give us some of the money we have already wasted back and chuck us out.
I cannot think of too much I will miss, actually, I cannot think of anything I will miss. What a clever move that would be, get all the dross to join the EU and then pull out.

I'm anti-EU and proud to be swimming against the tide of scheming politicians and gullible utopians. It will all go horribly wrong, just you see.

NB What do you mean by bigot?

Gullible utopians or brave visionaries?

Swimming agains the tide or living in a past era that has long gone?

really?

where?

I don't see any of the mass media being anything other than almost rabidly anti-europe. This "document" is, as one poster put, a load of bo**ocks.

apart from the fact that you are totally swimming with the Murdoch fuelled tide of effluent. It won't go horribly wrong, and it hasn't gone horribly wrong for the rest of Europe, in fact it seems to have gone terribly well, much to the UKIPs chagrin.... been to Europe recently?

I'm anti-EU because joining it will be the ultimate example of Labour's habit of centralising government. They like to take the decisions out of the hands of the people on the front line and put them with the people at the top who have generally lost touch.

I used the word bigot in reference to the article because it is not a reasoned argument presented but a petulant attack on things that are not English. BNP-style pieces serve no purpose other than to promote the us vs them mentality.

All IMHO of course

I was talking to Ari Vatanen (who is also Finnish)in Monaco a few years ago, as you do. For the odd person who might not know, Ari is one of the planet's major driving God's, now a Euro MP, but still an utter, utter top bloke.

We had just got on to Euro politics, he was starting to tell me how problematic the Brits were when we were interupted and had to go our seperate ways.

I want to be more European. Whenever I go anywhere in Europe, when I come back here I am never convinced we are getting things right.

For instance - We have the highest asthma rates, we have poor cancer survival rates, only 3 countries in the world have higher rates of death through repiratory disease, we have the highest rates of divorce, our teenagers have the highest rates of pregnancy, vd, drug abuse, alcoholism, we treat our elderly dreadfully, we have an absolutely ridiculous property market, Euro health, education and public transport services are better than ours, their roads are better, its less crowded, our immigration is a total mess, fags, booze, fuel is all much more expensive here, we work longer, we work harder, for no apparent gain, our litter is incredible, we never wash our pavements, we created bsc, we seem to be bombing someone or other every other week, and the mess we've created in Iraq, while virtually the whole of Europe was exercising caution, is unbelievable. Without a doubt, the whole world, not just Europe, is now a less safe place thanks to our actions. We're insular, unsophisticated and narrow minded.

I can't see what we're gaining by doing things our way.

Swimming against the tide? Nope, just swirling round and round in a whirlpool, ignoring the lifebelts thrown by the Europeans.

This book is bollocks. Most of his reasons for leaving are good reasons for staying in. In particular the pension drivel was most amusing. I think I only have one real problem with Europe and that is too many Greens.
