Well the car is booked in for the end of warranty issues list, as part of the online check in they try upselling a few consumables..

Windscreen wipers £70.

£70 for a pair of wipers for A6 C8, these things must be made out of rubber plated gold.

I have just looked at my itemised BMW F30 main dealer services. Over 7 years and 56k miles, there has never been windscreen wipers/blades on the itemised parts list.

Note: that is about the same price as Halford Advanced Wiper blades.

This was an online upsell before they have even seen the car.

Our S500 had stupidly expensive wipers, over £100 iirc, because the screenwash used to come through the blades.

The XC90 we change it for has a much better design with the jets on the arm themselves, so the blade is normal price and the function is the same

I use these guys,

https://www.wiperblades.co.uk/

Much, much cheaper than main dealers and sell all the main brands. Always had excellent service.

At the last service of my Skoda Superb, I was ‘advised’ that the wipers were ‘smearing’ and they would be happy to change the blades for £92!
I politely declined. For one thing, as the driver I suspect I am a better judge of when they need changing; for another I believed (correctly) that the blades would cost about £25 from Halfords; and finally I imagine that someone who takes their car to a garage to get new wiper blades fitted, is the sort of person who takes their bike to a cycle shop to get a puncture repaired.

Recently paid £11.67 for a pair of Bosch ones on Amazon for the OH's 1 Series. Fitted them myself.

£51+VAT for a Duster.

£22 in ECP for the Valeo's which are EXACTLY the same, they just have the Valeo print rubbed off on the ones you buy from the dealer.

My Peugeot 405s had washers with hoses that came up the wiper arms and jets that came out right in front of the blades. That was nearly 30 years ago. Why do manufacturers not do this now? It was a great system.

If you're not bothered about getting 'genuine' ones just use Autodoc.

There'll be atleast 10 brands to choose from and they'll range from about £4-£10 per blade.

I think Alpine wanted £270 - they would only sell the complete arms.
I managed to source them from a Volvo which used the same valeo wipers with the jets in the arm but Volvo sell the replacement blades separately

I had an unpleasant surprise. Having been quoted a very high price for genuine Valeo SWF replacement wipers I decided to buy the cheaper Bosch Aerotwin instead. They turned out not to be directly interchangeable and the Bosch wiper fittings needed extensive modification to make them fit the wiper arm. Frustrating.

Just looked up mine. Nissan want £140 for the pair. Euro Car Parts want £23 for a pair of Bosch ones.

I also use wiperblades.co.uk.

If I buy online , I only buy from Amazon if it is sold and fulfilled by Amazon. Any third party seller can supply counterfeit items to be fulfilled by Amazon.

I don't like ECP and their fake discounts so rarely use them - 60% off wipers today = £29.99, next day 33% off wipers today = £29.99.
