Same. Was around the same time - must have been 2007 in fact because we ended up with a 3 year old Civic Sport instead that despite being a bigger car and a smaller engine was a far more enjoyable thing to drive. In my head the ST should have felt like a rocket ship with a 2.0 engine in a small car but it barely felt any different to any other Fiesta in the range I thought... Maybe I was partially put off by our dealings with the Huddersfield Ford dealership who were a bunch of absolute muppets. My wife has owned one since late 2014 and its been a reliable car. Bonnet needs a respray and we've never repaired a slightly crumpled rear arch from a car park incident 5 years ago.
Its certainly a fun car to drive but I find myself in two minds over it. The ride is bothersome for me, 17 inch wheels and 40 profile tyres mean it just bumps and crashes, setting off the various suspension squeaks (the top mounts need doing). Also, as its a fairly tall and narrow small car, it feels quite on tippy toes at times and even with just 150BHP gets a bit squirrely under load. However, on the plus side, the seats are superb (can't say that about a standard Clio 172/182) and there is very little body roll. Its all well tied down. The steering is nicely feelsome and the engine feels torquey and quite strong for its output. We had an old 205 GTI 1.9 before this car and even allowing for that the fact that the valve stems needed doing on it, given their respective power to weight ratios, for me the ST felt quite a bit quicker through the gears, certainly at the top end.
This, like the MK1 Focus ST and Mondeo ST220 seems destined to be that rare thing, a sporty Ford which isn't valuable. I am hoping it might change in a few years but in the meantime, we enjoy a now quite rare old school n/a and fully analogue sporty (it isnt quite hot!) hatch!

I absolutely loved my MK6 ST.
It was luke warm as satandard, but I went all out on it and had the Mountune 185 and suspension kits installed - which made it the car it should have been all alone.
The Mountune kit absolutely transformed the car, as many said at the time, it felt a bit underwhelming in low revs, but once you got over 4, it was brilliant and it sounded fantastic.
It was good fun on trackdays, especially after the KW V1s were fitted. It could have done with better brakes though and the position of the power steering fluid meant it cooked whenever you drove the car hard. I'd planned to fix both things but woke up one morning to find someone had nicked the front bumper, skirts and spoiler. I got it all fixed, which cost a fortune, but got rid of the car shortly after.

Jacking up the front end, running the engine, and turning the wheels from lock to lock to bleed through fresh power steering fluid was and still is the most mechanical thing I've ever done!It was luke warm as satandard, but I went all out on it and had the Mountune 185 and suspension kits installed - which made it the car it should have been all alone.

That looks a very smart Fiesta. Right colour, right trim.......Wrong price! Surely even with the "rose tinted Oakley's" on it's only an eight grand car at best? Still, we've had this discussion so many times on here before and the cars still manage to find new owners. Whether they'd ever own up to the price they paid is another matter!

i seem to remember many saying just get the 1.6 zetec S instead. the ST seemed overshadowed by the cooper s and clio 182
Absolutely, As well as owning the Fiesta ST I've also owned a Cooper S R53 which was a similar age, the Mini is a far better car in just about everyway, the one downside of the Mini is the MPG is woefully bad for what it is, I suspect it's in the same sort of range as my current BMW M4 i.e low 20's

I remember the RS concept well. My mate had a lovely white one of these with the blue stripes. Savage fuel economy apparently.
Entirely dependent on how driven. Mine, with a few breathing mods and not driven like an absolute tool everywhere would easily see 40mpg and around 450 miles to a tank. Equally if you fancied it, you could do under 150 miles to a tank.Really miss mine, believe it ended up as a race car. Always tempted by another.

I remember looking at the Mini and the Clio back when I bought my Fiesta. They were definately better cars, but they were both quite a bit more expensive and were in higher insurance groups. I think Ford positioned the car right where they wanted it. I paid £12.5k brand new in 2008 - the Clio was just under 16k at the time.As well as owning the Fiesta ST I've also owned a Cooper S R53 which was a similar age, the Mini is a far better car in just about everyway, the one downside of the Mini is the MPG is woefully bad for what it is, I suspect it's in the same sort of range as my current BMW M4 i.e low 20's

I drove a Clio 182 having decided that was my obvious next car but having had turbo engined cars before ruined it for me, just felt flat low down and then hit the rev limiter just as it seemed to be getting a move on, think would have got it eventually but a test drive tends to miss the subtleties.

Saw a mint one of these in the supermarket not that long ago and it stopped me in my tracks. Just looks so good now, perfect proportions.
Not sure about the price of this one but really please to see the selection isn't that limited going by the ones shared above.
I like how you say you saw it in the supermarket. A whole new meaning to the phrase 'car supermarket'.Not sure about the price of this one but really please to see the selection isn't that limited going by the ones shared above.

Missed the important words "car park" in my excitement.
