It's a deeply flawed car really. Huge and heavy but cramped inside and a very harsh ride on UK roads. Yet, I'd love one.

As has been pointed out the artice is about the 4 door model M8 but all the pictures show the 2 door coupe version. One thing that has not been mentioned is that the ride on those things, especially in the UK, is dire. Very uncomfortable
Our old F13 640d didn't ride well either, and my F82 M4 also has a lousy ride for me as well. Both lovely cars don't get me wrong, but not entirely suited to the UKs crappy roads though.
Even my boggo 2021 plate 118i hatchback had a rubbish ride. It replaced a Focus which was much more compliant on the (terrible) Aberdeenshire roads, it handled/steered better, too.

I like this, but I suspect owning it for the next 3 to 4 years would see another great whack of depreciation.... tis' a handsome thing, though...

These look great in soft top form. I've seen an M850 convertible but no idea if they make an M8 in a soft top.

Is the ride improved by swapping out the run flats or were they not supplied on the M8? First thing I always ditched on my BMWs and their insistence upon them always annoyed me.
And yes there is an M8 Cab. They do seem like quite a lot of car for the money after a year or so of depreciation.

Probably a car I'd never own but I love when I see one. Always respect the owner - a bold choice given the depreciation and other options available at the money.

"Article does mention that you're better in Comfort mode on UK roads. Other online reviews say it's fine in that mode".

The people that have bought one and who have commented, including here on Pistonheds, have all said that the ride in all modes is very uncomfortable. Apparently, best not to be used as a daily or as a long-distance crusier. The 840i does not apparently suffer from that "flaw"

Full fat M cars have normal tyres on them, and not run flats. However my F82 M4 still has a harsh ride anyway though to be fair.

I take it GranCoupe stock photos are harder to come by?
Precisely that biggrin We had shot a two door car and BMW’s images of a Gran Coupe are LHD, German registered and just a bit naff. Sorry it’s not ideal, just seemed best compromise!

I bought one recently (2022 coupe).
Love it so far.
I found Porsches to be a bit austere inside and clinical to drive (the M8 took place of a Cayman GTS 4.0; I also drove the Panamera).
Bentley Continental not sporty enough.
I was thinking DB11 V12 but went for the M8 in the end - may still get the Aston later.

I also just bought a 2022 coupe and absolutely love it. I keep reading people mention size and weight but neither has been an issue, admittedly I live in Texas where the roads are wide. It’s very comfortable, quick and has been reliable over the past 5 months. I also have a 2015 M6 gran coupe and that has also been very reliable over a couple years of ownership and approximately 30k miles.

I did the whole 911 thing, I very much prefer the M8.

So, this depreciate like stone and is not an issue, but when an EV loses about/less than this, the cave men come out with a smug face... Hmmm

Straight line performance is otherworldly.
Interior is superb, too. For me just the right blend of sporty and GT.

This is an article about a proper car, and when I last checked...cave men don't give a rats ass about EVs. smile

The irony of this jest about peoples intelligence yet you seem unable to apply any logical thought in determining when depreciation is good or bad wink

Don't get me wrong, iI'm super happy, that depreciation is runing strong with big GTs, and especially EVs, as I have my eyes set on a used taycan turbo s. Just does not seem fair, that nobody mention it, while if we would discuss Taycan, there would be 50% posts about "massive" depreciaton, and of course, how all EVs are $hite. I am a brand new EV enthusiast after getting my first EV. And yes, I have a mid engined V8 also.

How would you compare the M6 and the M8 ? There's a bit of overlap now in the prices in the used car market between late M6 and early M8, so both could come into consideration for some people.

Is the M8 a worthwhile step up over the M6 or are they similar?
