Don't get me wrong, iI'm super happy, that depreciation is runing strong with big GTs, and especially EVs, as I have my eyes set on a used taycan turbo s. Just does not seem fair, that nobody mention it, while if we would discuss Taycan, there would be 50% posts about "massive" depreciaton, and of course, how all EVs are $hite. I am a brand new EV enthusiast after getting my first EV. And yes, I have a mid engined V8 also.

I have to say it does look quite suspicious that you are suddenly a new EV enthusiast and you thought to yourself that you’d join Pistonheads and pump out some weird EV propaganda.

The writing style as well almost makes me think this is a certain other poster on this forum who has weirdly for some reason created another profile to try and continue pushing some weird EV agenda they have confused

For me 4 doors spoils the car so 2 door coupe or convertible would be my options...

Actually looked at a few convertibles around £75k which on paper seems a real bargain,

But couldn't pull the trigger for some reason and spent more on a 992 911 instead...

Got to be value for money now though I reckon....

Coupe looks great, interior a bit too 5 series for the price they asked originally…. GC ruins the lines and looks a bit ungainly.

Think I’d rather a slightly older Bentley and have something much more special.
If these are now half their £120k purchase price, how old/leggy is the Bentley at £60k?

Back on topic....

Love the 8-series, seemed to the first of a leap forward in interior quality. Flirted with an 850i when I got the SVR, but only briefly.

Fellow dad at school spent year changing his car every 6 months, usually had M3/M4/RS4/RS5...then jumped into an M8 GC and has now had it for 2 years. Speaks volumes.

Looks great, but.
Reviews suggest it’s a bit harsh on the UKs third world road surfaces..

How would you compare the M6 and the M8 ? There's a bit of overlap now in the prices in the used car market between late M6 and early M8, so both could come into consideration for some people.

Is the M8 a worthwhile step up over the M6 or are they similar?
I prefer the M6. Interior is more traditional and I like the analogue dials. The DCT is brilliant and RWD makes it an event every time. Even with warmed up pilot sports, it breaks traction easily. Childish but fun. I got through a Canadian winter in it, just fantastic fun. It’s horrible on fuel and even though the S63tu is supposed to be a reliable engine, I do worry. They are supposedly terrible for oil consumption but mine doesn’t take a sip between oil changes; every 7k miles. I was initially going to trade in for the M8 but the trade price was awful so I kept it, glad I did and I won’t ever be selling it.

The M8 is ‘new’ and feels new. The straight line speed is violent and it’s very comfortable, they both are. It feels lighter than the M6. I’ve been driving it quite hard, regularly and it’s much easier to drive than the M6.

I also think the M6 is better looking.

I really like the M8 but absolutely love the M6.

I like that. One of the few modern BMWs that's not pig ugly and you're not getting in an equivalent 911 for anywhere near that money.

For what it’s worth I recently bought a 2015 Flying Spur with 43k miles and FBSH from a main dealer with 36 months Bentley warranty for a grand total of £53k (about £4k of that was to add a couple of extra years onto the warranty). So it’s older but not too leggy and had a pretty cosseted life thus far.

So, this depreciate like stone and is not an issue, but when an EV loses about/less than this, the cave men come out with a smug face... Hmmm
It's not an issue when you're looking at a used one.

This is EV-level deprecation and a big hurdle for EV (and from what I can see, hybrid), to overcome.

Interesting to hear. I ran an M6 for 18,000 miles and it was a wonderful GT so have had half an eye on the M8 not the deprecation has really kicked in.

Shocking depreciation. Imagine buying one privately from new?

Hell of a bargain to buy second hand though. Bet they still depreciate over the next year or so.

Big cars though. Surely if you wanted a 3 door coupe, an M2 would be the better option.

They are bargains. My line of thinking was I want an M8 coupe, so I bought an M8 coupe.

Not sure an M2 or even M4 are remotely similar in experience.

So not really a buyer’s guide, just a review.
