You know this business deal vs personal deal stuff: If you had a company but didn't want it as a company car (for obvious tax reasons) could you just lease it through the company as a business deal but pay the company back the lease costs from your own account and not reclaim any vat?
That way I assume you get the benefit of the business lease price but without the crippling and pointless company car tax
No. Been discussed several times. Can we drop it.
You know, you say no but others in the know say they have done exactly this. Suggests there is more to it than your simple 'no', no?

Great deal on with Audi

You don't give them £300 a month and you don't have to drive an Audi

We don't have co cars instead cash 4 cars far less hassle and generally this is and has been the way the tide is flowing.
I think Tonker responded late last night to answer my point at which point the issue was closed out.
Well it would be less hassle as you'd make a right arse of it and never mind Tonker, you directed your "expertise" at me remember?

Anyway, best we get back OT.

I know of two that did this as well, when they moved the business from a partnership to a ltd company.

So, can you take on a business deal as an individual and just pay the VAT on top?

I know this was said tongue in cheek, but yeah, if the broker and supplier allows it.

The fact is sometimes, like in the case of VW with the Golf R, they insist on it being through a business to control margins on cars to Joe public, other times it is just classed as business for a better headline rate, the personal option is often exactly the same but with vat applied.

Bargain!

Deals on the S3 and Octavia VRS on Gateway might be of interest to those who missed out on the R. 4 years on the S3 would put me off though, especially considering Audi depreciation.

Nope. You don't have to join in but others are free to discuss regardless.

If it's your company then there's nothing to stop you doing this realistically. Ultimately the company would be responsible for ensuring all payments are made to the leasing company whether you as an individual make your payments back to the company. Officially the leasing companies don't allow sub-letting as part of their agreements, but as long as your company makes the payments to the leasing company on time, and from the company bank account, it's doable. The company will of course receive the VAT invoices for the vehicle so your accountant will need to account for those. As far as company car tax goes, you could potentially take the vehicle as a company car and benefit from insurance / servicing being paid by the company, and you (as an individual) can make monthly contributions towards the lease which would be deducted from your P11D anyway.

it's not about deals is it. It's about how to con the tax man. Just because you're currently getting away with it doesn't mean it's permitted, and just because it's loosely related to car leasing doesn't mean it's on topic.

My company offers that. Sadly they're also mostly "green", and thus dull. They're also less of a bargain than I was expecting, so I decided against! Think the lease offers on here are generally better value, as you don't pay BIK if it's a personal lease..
