McLaren F1 for sale....one not-so-careful previous owner
Discussion
I guess that if you bought it to drive rather than hide it in a collection then it makes perfect sense to sell if you no longer get enough pleasure from driving it.
I always find the 'one owner' argument mildly amusing as the second owner is expected to pay for something that the act of them buying causes it to cease to exist. To me its one of those little comedy farces of the market place.

I still have the Classic Sports car magazine that interviews him after he collected the F1 from Mclaren following the repairs, granted it's been in two accidents but I think we have to remember that the repairs weren't done by Fix auto on a cheap insurance budget.
Mclaren wouldn't have repaired it if they didn't think they could put it back to its original condition.
I suppose it'll fall to the buyer, is this the only F1 publicy for sale?
If it is would you want to wait for the next non accident one whilst prices continue on the up or buy this knowing that yes it's had an accident but is pretty much good as new.

I like his attitude. It's become so valuable that it's more like a museum piece than something to use and enjoy.
Agreed, he seems like a top bloke and a proper hardcore enthusiast, what an exceptional car.Great article.
Such a lovely looking car. Atkinson is a hero of my childhood (Blackadder, Mr. Bean), and I love that he's a car enthusiast too. One of those people you'd love to share a pint with
It's not a definite guarantee of a good buy, and I guess it won't always be applicable to the super car market, but it's certainly one of the most important factors when buying a second hand car.

Not really. Advertising a car as single owner is a signifier of the potential of how well it's been looked after. I'd rather buy a car off it's first owner, who paid £25K for it and has treated it like a £25K possession, than buy it from the 5th owner, who picked it up for £2K and treated it as nothing more than a £2K car. It's not a definite guarantee of a good buy, and I guess it won't always be applicable to the super car market, but it's certainly one of the most important factors when buying a second hand car.

The crashes wouldn't bother me as it was rebuilt by Mclaren with no expense spared, not some cheap bodyshop
Indeed. Quite why anybody would view the accident as a problem is beyond me, this must be about as close to a brand new F1 as your going to get.http://www.mclarenlife.com/forums/mclaren-p1-f1/30...
some scans here of an article on the car and repair...as far as Mclaren are concerned it is ever bit as good as when it was new and passed all the testing they did to new cars before it was given back to Rowan
