Not wanting to stab the car vs bike hornets test... but this looks like riders who don't want to kill themselves versus a driver who's ego is pushing him.
Also look at the speeds and acceleration involved, it looks more like 600 levels of go to me. I'd expect a 1000cc super bike to romp away between 100 and 150 mph, which doesn't seem to be the case.
At speeds over 170mph though, I'm not surprised the car is there.
A more representative video is the RS6 vs ZX10R autobahn clip, or even the s1000RR VS Fireblade race which shows the true acceleration capabilities of a modern litre bike, and in the interest of fairness, a powerful road car.

Great video, though the bikes weren't taking anywhere near the amount of risks that the R8 driver did. It's also very easy to sit on your arse, push one pedal and keep the wheel pointing straight, turning it about 5° for every bend. The bikes were banked down for some corners there and no doubt having much more fun.

I have to be honest and say that the R8 is well driven but he is taking on 600cc Sportsbikes also you can't underestimate what a difference not having boots & leathers on will make but to not be wearing gloves the guy must have Iron hands.
Had he taken on a 1000cc Sportsbike he'd have lost, but he could only take on what he saw at the time.

One of the main reasons bikes top out at the 190mph mark is gearing but at the same time that's what gives the bikes their blistering acceleration.
A production car won't touch a production 1000cc sportstbike IMO

I just had a quick look at quarter mile times for an Yamaha R1 and a Mclaren 650S, seem to be about the same give or take a tenth. With decent rider/driver on an average road with plenty of curves wouldn't they be level? Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
