F30 328i alternatives
Discussion
My wife is after a new car, something a little nicer than her current daily Peugeot 308 (which shouldn't be difficult!)
Now the f30 328i lux seems to fit the bill perfect however the only off putting factor is that it's maby a little boring/plain, she owned a rx8 for 6yrs prior to the 308 which she adored however it wasn't really practicle when she fell pregnant, a modern alternative would be nice
Guidelines are as follows:
Something more rare/exciting/different than the 328i
4 doors, standard saloon/family hatch size
Sporty performance, needs a bit of poke
Hoping to keep depreciation low, usually buy at around 3/4yrs old
Max budget of £15,000
Mpg and insurance don't really concern us too much, if we could keep under the £500 tax bracket would be a bonus
Any ideas?

Cheers for the input it's genuinely appreciated,
She's not keen on the evo/Impreza idea as it may sent out the wrong image being a social worker,
The c350 merc is a fantastic shout, never really considered one, the only slight down point is that's it's not the current model and will likely suffer higher depreciation?

Hi,
This sound any good
An upmarket German cruiser with a snarling V8 hidden under the sleeper bonnet.
Space for 2-3 kids in the back

Not sure what your implying but it's expected that she portrays herself professionally when visiting clients or court ect, turning up in a jap rally rep with a oversized bonnet scoop or rear wing is hardly that
Any further suggestions?
Im not sure showing up at a (financially) troubled families home in a big german power saloon sends the right message... Id consider either a debadgeable hot hatch (Golf R with some of the R trim remove to look more boggo), or a not-quite hot hatch such as a Focus with the 180hp ecoboost or a Megane GT, that should keep it looking relatively low key and discrete for job purposes, but plenty of power for a fun hoon. (and given that she is in a 308 right now, a 180hp focus will be quite the upgrade)Any further suggestions?

I'll never understand why people fit aftermarket Parrot kits into cars that already have bluetooth Also, why has that 300bhp performance saloon got Fulway tyres?

VAG, back then, used a bluetooth profile that wasn't compatible with most phones - rSAP. I had a Golf GT with rSAP bluetooth and had to dig out an ancient Nokia to use as my business phone. Also, why has that 300bhp performance saloon got Fulway tyres?
If the previous owner had a modern smartphone, the only way to get handsfree in a VAG of that era was to fit an aftermarket kit.
Agree on the tyres, though!

So turning up in a drug dealer wannabe German saloon must be so much more accepting Any further suggestions?

As a sidebar tyres don't bother me infact it tells me that the owner wasn't one to drive the car hard so wasn't bothered about outright grip, also my local tyre fitter recommended Nankang trackday tyres I thought he was joking he fitted a set on the understanding that he'd be getting them straight back if I wasn't happy but I have to say they surprised me proper grip & feedback the ST seemed to like them so don't be a tyre snob they might be okay.
