Update: Nissan 'Super Juke' - Video 10

Shakedown time for the mutant Juke...

There's a lot to cram in...
There's a lot to cram in...
8th December.

"The moment has finally come for Juke-R to hit the track! With the build complete, engineers take Juke-R to MIRA proving ground to check all systems work correctly before heading to Silverstone to push the car's limits," says Nissan.

We say: Finally, a chance to see the Juke that thinks its a GT-R in action...

2nd December.

Another day, another Nissan Juke GT-R video. this time (for video 9) it's all about putting the finishing touches to the Crossover-meets-Godzilla special.

We're also promised that the next video will show some actual proper action, for the car's shakedown and testing...

23rd Nov.

we've been rather remiss in our Juke GT-R updates of late, so herre's a whole bundle of video shorts - numbers 5 through to 8.

Which, for those interested in such things, covers gearbox and drivertrain, seat fitting and ergonomics, body styling and handling. Enjoy...

Riggers

27th Oct.

The latest video concerns fitting the engine and dealing with cooling issues. Next week, the transmission... can you bear to wait?

20th Oct.

Nissan's project to create 'the fastest crossover in the world' continues to continue apace.

This is video number three, showing that fabrication is underway, and teasing us with a GT-R motor fresh from its crate...

12th Oct.

Nissan's project to stick a 480hp GT-R engine and running gear into the one-off Juke-R continues apace.

It's a 22 week project, and they're keeping track of progress with a series of videos on Facebook.

Here's the latest...

(Original PH article below)
480hp means you're not sniggering now... (or else!)

The GT-R powered Super Juke...
The GT-R powered Super Juke...
Occasional reminiscences aside from PHer Garlick (about his days as a young matelot and that Royal Navy Bangkok tour), transvestism doesn't get much of a look in here at PH Towers. It's not that we've any principled objections, but the results can be so implausible, don't you think? Let's just say we give it the swerve, apart from (mainly) at the weekends.

If 'crossover' is the automotive equivalent of 'transvestite' (can you see where we're going with this one, folks?) Nissan's revoltingly implausible Juke is a car that really would have been better off staying indoors. It's a Nissan Cube underneath the drag, which is the sort of car a chap would feel comfortable chatting about in the pub. The Juke meanwhile attracts derisory sniggers and insults, at least until the beer goggles go on....

Now, and apparently in a quest to add a dash of testosterone to its mixed-up metaphor for a lifestyle that hasn't been invented, Nissan Europe is building what it terms a 'Super Juke'.

... and a Juke looking, er, super!
... and a Juke looking, er, super!
This is it (in rendered form), and before anyone quips that it looks as if Godzilla has been lured into a drunken fumble with a giant radioactive guppy that he (she, or it) tripped over in a rock pool on the way home from the Karaoke bar in Fukushima - you're a bit too close to the truth.

Because underneath the Super Juke's, er, sexy body, will lurk an engine and running gear from the GT-R itself. Yep, we're talking about 480hp, a sub four second 0-60mph time, and an attitude that says 'who's sniggering now?'

Nissan has even put it on their Facebook page so you can officially like or loathe it. But as with Garlick and that Navy lark, we're conflicted...
