I've placed a bid on a car. It needs collecting on a trailer. It ends in 10 mins.

It's 445 miles away.

Oh cock.

I looked for the most interesting thing ending in less than 10 mins. Helps that it's in Ayrshire too... cos that's miles away from anywhere. biggrin

Mate, monstrous respect and admiration to you! You do realise you've bought an utterly brilliant, wonderful classic for peanuts, don't you? Containing one of the best powerplants like ever, right?

I'm actually bloody jealous!

But then I am an ex-205 Gti owner too...

Please, please, keep us updated on the collection and transportation home saga, yeah? Thanks! thumbup

A million PH points to this man everyone!
Let's hope it all comes off swimmingly. I have to replace the GTA somehow, and I thought retro cool might fill the void.

Oh and surely it would be cheaper to use one of those car moving companies to fetch it down
I will be looking into that tomorrow, even if its only part way. Has anybody in Scotland got a trailer and want to earn some beer tokens, could meet part way, even if it was at the boarder?

From the description it sounds like it moves by itself - I'd be inclined to drive it home. Whip the two wheels off down to kwik fit, and then see how far you get on your way to the pre-booked MOT next to your house. I'm sure it will be fine. biggrin
And upgrade to AA relay biggrin

I couldn't sleep last night. I lay awake till gone 2, excited like a little child.

I used my time constructively, and went on Shipley. I have had my first quote back this morning, and its 350 quid. This is much better than I imagined.

I will be in Irvine on that day to visit family, give me a PM if you and your mate want a pint when you arrive. That is a long drive from the south coast!
Thanks for the offer. As much as I'd like to do this road trip, Shipley has just offered a very competitive quote of £275.

Irvine is only about 10 miles away from me , so I'd be happy to pop down and give it a quick look over .

I can also direct you to nearby scrappys where you might pick up a couple of tyres , or local part worn tyre places where you could get a couple of cheap tyres .
Would you mind having a look at it, to make sure its not totally rotten? I think I'm going to ship it back to be honest, but I will bear that in mind.

Oh come on OP! I could do with something to look forward to at the end of the week - like a mad PH'er driving an interesting old French banger the length of the country without an MOT!

We could start a book on how many times you get stopped by the traffpol,or how many break downs you have biggrin

You know it makes sense!
Don't tempt me. A train ticket is £64..

No problem , I can pop down in the evening .

If you want to PM me your details , where the car is , and a contact no for the guy I can do that no problem .

I can take some better pictures and email them to you as well .
Leg end.

I have emailed him, and suggested I'd like you to go and have a look at it. I will PM you when he replies.

Good Luck OP, you are a true petrolhead!
In my watch list.

Now somehow I need to tell swimbo that our new born baby (due Dec) will be transported around in a 22 year old 405 argue
