We have the barge threads for big lazy yachts but no threads for cheap, second hand and exciting cars.

I don't know whether this thread will kick off or not but I thought it's worth a try. Too much diesel and sensible drizzle floating around on PH these days.

This looks like an interesting buy, although I wonder if the price is correct?

Toyota MR2 Supercharger, Manual, T-bar (1989)

£2795

Edited to add: Some ground rules:

A) No boring or ordinary every day cars. For example a Golf or 5 Series diesel doesn't qualify no matter how many horses are under the bonnet. However good hot hatches (e.g. 106 Rallye) are great candidates.

And that's it. I doesn't need to be fast, just the sort of car you give a second look at after you've parked it in the garage on a Sundays evening. Fun and special to drive.

Some good suggestions so far. I would buy that V6 Alfa just so I could make it shout naughty noises on a quiet Sunday morning wink

TVR is my favourite at the moment though biggrin

Bonnet shut line looks all wrong to me.
Well observed (or badly missed on my part). From the other side it looks fine.

Worth checking for accident damage.

Great thread and just what I need. I'm currently hankering after a toy car which needs to be inexpensive and ideally suitable for classic insurance. I was going to bid on this but it has been withdrawn because the seller did a deal outside of ebay - which always annoys.

I had a friend at uni who had one of those, I always wondered what the fuss was all about until I followed him one day, really quick for it's engine size. They're definitely sleepers.

A little out of thread budget, but has had an engine rebuild with some upgraded internals.

Ah thanks for that, I've been thinking about a Kit Car recently and I didn't realise the Westfields went for that price!

well it was one of the cheapest I could find
Still a good find though smile

Definitely the sort of stuff I was looking for in this thread smile I don't care about boot space or the interior or the refinement, it's all about the driving experience smile

Have you driven the car you started the thread with (not necessarily that actual one, but a mk1 MR2 SC)?
And were you querying the price as too low or too high on the opening car?
It is thought that there are only about 200 SC in the UK.
No I haven't had the pleasure of driving one, although they initially strike me as a bit of fun.. quite a light kerb weight and mid engined.

I was wondering if the price was too high, but upon reflection I think it's fair. If the advert is true then it's one of the better examples out there in my opinion.

I was reading your car history and note that you own one, how has your experience been with it? smile
