My car is currently sorn and has been since June last year. My other car is now sold so I want to start using this one for a while.

I can go and tax it on line but can I start driiving it straight away ?

It says on the DVLA website that if you apply BEFORE you current one expires you can drive for a further 5 days. But what about in my situation - anybody know ?

Ok, i'm going to play it safe and instead of using a tank of petrol tomorrow i'm going to have a load of beers tonight.

I have been doing this for years and have never had a problem. As soon as i have paid for the tax after a sorn period, I have driven the car often same hour, never mind the same day.
It can take up to a week or more to get the disc through the post so it is unreasonable to expect the car to remain off the road until the DVLA can be bothered to post the disc to you.
Yeah, but that doesn't mean anything does it ? It just means you never got caught and had to explain anything.
