Ok we've all been reading about beemers & audis being stolen off people's drives without keys (other makes are available).

So what would you do (to make vehicles more secure) if you were the EU master of legislation? Here's my idea. May need some technical work biggrin

Manufacturers to be forced to provide a tracker aerial (min surface area to be determined) into a metal strip that is hard to remove; (eg is part of the windscreen surround, or roof rails or something) so the tracker itself can be placed anywhere, and the aerial is non-removable (within reason). The aerial itself does not indicate whether the vehicle actually has a tracker fitted since every model will have one, thus making thieves lives much more difficult.

Introduce some sort of password protection on OBD connectors. Perhaps something where it has to be enabled by phoning up, getting a pin number.
that's quite a good idea - like those little usb-type pen things IT network people use? Like bank things. They keep clicking round and there's some way of using the right code at a certain point in time, I think. IT people will know what I'm on about.
