What's the modern day Fiat Coupe?
Discussion
18 months ago I purchased a very cheap Fiat Coupe off a friend of the family. I didn't really know a lot about them and initially was thinking about flogging it on. As it turned out I really enjoyed driving it, comfortable, made a great noise, pretty quick and it looked (and was) a bit different to everything else.
As expected of course I've had a few problems with it, it's a 16 year old Fiat after all! They're starting to stack up a bit now and with a new kid on the way I'm starting to wonder about something a bit newer and hopefully more reliable.
Thing is I still want the same type of car, SWMBOs got a Fiesta so I don't need something sensible.
Under £6k
2+2
Comfortable GT/Sport type car
Bit different/interesting
Good engine that makes a great noise
Not so fussed about amazing handling, I've got a proper Mini for that!
Not made of cheese
What are your suggestions chaps and chapesses?
RX8?
350Z?
Alfa GT V6?
What else?

On what grounds? Interested to know as I quite like these and was thinking about getting one. Which of his criteria does it not meet?
I assume the requirement for a 2+2 rules the 2-seater 350Z out?The Alfa GT was the first one I thought of, good looks, great V6 engine. Anyone know much about them? The RX8 is interesting too but they've got to be so cheap for a reason. I'm afraid the Hyundai just doesn't do it for me and neither does the TT.
Glad it's not just me that found it a difficult "What car" to answer! If I take away the 2+2 requirement any other suggestions?

So long as you can afford to fill it up with fuel frequently!

Under £6k - Check
2+2 - Check
Comfortable GT/Sport type car - Check
Bit different/interesting - I'd say so.
Good engine that makes a great noise - Most definitely
Not made of cheese - It's made of metal!
Dad has had multiple 944's and they (and any Porsche/VW for that matter) has just not been my thing. They do very little for me. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

I seem to have an odd quirk for badly built Italian/British cars.
That Alfa GT is looking mighty tempting, always fancied that 3.2 V6

Fiat Coupe 20vs are quick by ANYONE's measure of quick - given the time they existed.
0-60 a little over 6 seconds - there's a bit of road near here, off a roundabout onto a dual and I've been known to 'lepton test' a range of cars on that.
I've had Porsches, a few ricers, one RS500 and the only cars to nudge a (dash indicated) 150 (leptons) were a Coupe 20v and a Conti GT (which nudged quite a bit more than that) - a VXR Astra (earlier one) was nearly there but that's a brown-trousers car at those leptonages...
I drove a Coupe 20v back-to-back with an Accord Type-R (Accord handles better - Coupe MUCH quicker otherwise) and a Mk1 TT 225 (worst of the 3 in handling - somewhere between them in speed)
Coupes are quick before you tinker - tinker and many good things happen I hear?
The also look the bks - sound fantastic - all they needed was a better driver's seat really...
I'm sure other cars might have more power on paper but there really is something about how the Coupe delivers on the road, proper shove in the back stuff. Plus the noise probably helps! 0-60 a little over 6 seconds - there's a bit of road near here, off a roundabout onto a dual and I've been known to 'lepton test' a range of cars on that.

Alfa GTs go to top of the list. Only problem is that there doesn't seem to be very many! 5 on EBay, 6 on Autotrader, what's up with that?
