One of my cars has just passed its MOT with the engine light on. I thought the rules had changed now or have i got that wrong.

Among other things it has split front suspension bushes (front end is like jelly!) weak rear bushes leaking power steering rack and diff.

I am amazed it passed and its now off the road until the problems are sorted. I knew about all of the problems and have been working to get sorted under warranty so no surprises apart from the fact it passed !

Bit annoying as now the warranty co will probably try to get out of fixing it as it passed its MOT

Ah ok , now i understand. I wouldnt consider it safe or roadworthy at the moment, its off the road pending warranty claim, only put through mot as i thought a fail would help my case. You live and learn eh!

Pas is leaking enough to have fresh fluid running down the rack, it was plain to me when on the ramp last week but apparently no sign of it now. Got to get it up on the ramp again myself to double check. Maybe they wiped it off and it didnt leak again while they had it in.

Engine light is emissions and a new cat is required but the actual emissions are still well within spec, i ran my own check before it went in.

I know that my usual MOT place would have failed the bushes as they are very weak, you can move the front suspension around easily with a big screwdriver pushing against it and the car needs constant steering inputs. But i can appreciate that the bushes are only split and not yet falling out so they can pass it.
