Couldn't pay for fuel...

On the 21st of May, forgot my card. I said I'd go back and pay later that day, however I completely forgot, I just got a letter yesterday, which was dated the 05/06/15, saying I need to pay at the garage within seven days, get a receipt and fill out a form.
It has Southwark Police Station and the address at the top left, but the logo is "Boss fighting forecourt crime"
I have every intention of paying, but I only just got the letter yesterday, which means seven days has gone already, what will happen?

Just went to pay it cash in hand, and letter in other! The bloke had no idea what to do, he said I had to pay at the police station, even though the letter clearly states I should pay the GARAGE! Waste of time. He told me to come back tomorrow when the manager is there, as all their documents are locked away...
Looks like I'll be over there tomorrow.
BTW - I genuinely forgot, I saw the letter on top of the microwave where my mum put it, and wondered what it could be!
If I was going to fill and run, I'd do a lot more than £10, and I'd use different plates, and I wouldn't have wrote down my details on a special form! Numpties

I'm not really asking what I should DO as such, I'm wondering what the Behind The Scenes process is, in terms of uploading my details to some kind of database and so on...I forgot to renew the VED on my car for a week this year, so as soon as I remembered the first thing I did was to go onto the internet and ask random people what I should do. Oh wait, no, I just paid it.

Not paid yet, I went there earlier with a £10 note, but the guy said come back tomorrow when the garage manager is around so he can provide me with a receipt and sort out the paperwork, his words...

Got a receipt, although the receipt is dated 14/06/2015, the actual transaction was found using his EPOS system and found it from the 21st May.
I'm not too shocked at the replies on PH tbh, as I usually take part in roasting the OP in such cases anyway, I'm more concerned that everyone has perfect memory lmao!

This happened to me me (Sikessss) I went to the post office to get a tenner out, I got to the ATM and my mind went blank completely, I couldn't even guess which number it had in it for a few minutes, I called up customer service and the bloke said he's reset yoru card and you have 2 more attempts, Got it on the last one.
