It appeared overnight. It had a burger van and everything.

Traditional answer would be "under a toadstool", but in all seriousness, I was shoveling muesli into my face when I heard some fruity engines being revved, looked out the window and there it was. The field being used is just off the road between Welshpool and Llanfyllin. No doubt if I goggled I'd be able to find the organisers. The land owner didn't bother to warn anyone in advance as far as I know, and no doubt the event will have pissed off some of the neighbours. But I'm all in favour so long as it isn't too frequent. Looked like a lot of fun.

Were you just there for the weekend, or is your profile out of date?

I known that road pretty well - it's my route of choice when heading to Snowdonia. The section from Llangynog to Bala is particularly fun smile
Profile is out of date. There are indeed some superb roads round here. The landscape becomes increasingly mountainous as soon as you head west from here. Snowdonia is obviously the main attraction, but for a bit more seclusion the Arans and Berwyn are well worth a visit.

Personally I'd be delighted and straight over there!!
I had to make do with watching from the back garden which wasn't a bad second best. Too much baby wrangling and lawn mowing to be able to escape.

Actually there's a fair bit of grass roots motorsport round here. The farm on the hill behind us hosts some kind of trail bike event. The course must be a couple of miles long and rises and falls over a fairly serious hill. And some rally comes up the lane immediately behind us in the early hours of the morning in May. Plus there are quite a few green lanes round here that attract loads of bikes and a few 4x4s. When we get a bit more settled and my wife isn't looking, I'm going to indoctrinate young Ben in the ways of internal combustion.
