Air con re-gas
Discussion
I have a 2005 SLK350, I bought this last October and have found that the aircon doesn't blow out cold, I don't really want to just get it regassed without a check to see if it's leaking otherwise it will be a waste of time, If it isn't a simple fix then I will live without as I am very aware I could spend a fortune trying to track down what the problem is, has anyone had a similar thing and found a re-gas actually works or does it work for a month then it's all leaked out again

Mercs de-activate the compressor if the system loses gas and I think this is why a re-set is required. So if you try to DIY or some other "cheap fix" I suspect it won't be a fix.
Exactly the reason it's in on Friday, if you google it it seems a reset is also needed, not something you can do yourself without the correct software, lead, knowledgepaulguitar said:

All working fine now, the check revealed a low pressure warning but no leaks from the nitrogen test, so a regas and a reset of the system was needed. The guy thought it probably had never been regassed before but it wouldn't have worked without resetting the system and clearing the fault codes so the halfords kit or going to kwik fit would have been no good
Hmmmmm bit of an update, it stopped blowing cold after about 2 weeks, took it back and they reconnected it to the star machine. Low pressure again so basically it's all leaked out again, they think it's a leak somewhere in the depths of the car and would need to take a lot of parts of to get to it. Obv a lot of labour involved there, so as it is its September now and won't probably need the air con until next year now anyway I'm leaving it as is, shame.

False economy. Fix it now and avoid contaminants getting further into the system, making it a more expensive repair.
Also remember that aircon is exceptionally good at clearing mist/condensation inside the car on cold days.
It won't be a more expensive repair later as never worked anyway since I had it so I'm not doing it. I'm not chucking up to £1000 at a £9000 car to have cold air esp when the roof comes off anywayAlso remember that aircon is exceptionally good at clearing mist/condensation inside the car on cold days.
