Jap import van - am I mad?

After my current lease is up, im looking to buy. Something like a secondhand Duster or maybe new Stepway. Boring.
Maybe something bigger to sleep in overnight on awaydays.
Just having a browse and I see jap imports like the Honda Spike. Based on Jazz running gear (prob need a cvt flush), and 7 seater so pretty good storage space. Also 4x4 which suits my passtimes.
Seems an oddball choice, though an Isuzu Vehicross really floats my boat too.
There seem to be styling choices I prefer to a Meriva or UK people carrier.
Would I be completely mad to buy a 15yo jap import?
