Supercar Parade hits London

Get to the Mall on Friday Morning

St James's Square in London will be the location for one of the biggest parades of Supercars the streets of London has ever seen. Marking the start of the Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy Weekend (the British round of the FIA GT Championship), some of the world's most powerful, fastest and spectacular road cars could bring central London to a standstill.

The parade of over 30 cars will include a police escort, with motorcycle outriders ensuring smooth passage of these supreme vehicles as they begin their journey down Pall Mall at 10am before heading North West to Silverstone. Their destination will be the Silverstone Supercar Showdown weekend which has the Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy Race as its showcase event.

Before heading out of London, the lead car will stop outside the Royal Automobile Club, Pall Mall to pick up Stephen Hammerton, Chairman of the Club Motoring Committee. Stephen will be responsible for bringing the coveted Tourist Trophy to Silverstone, 101 years after it was first awarded.

Several high performance Maseratis and AMG Mercedes, plus Ferraris, Aston Martins, Bentleys, Porsches, Jaguars and TVRs as well as an Ascari, Lotus and Morgan Aero 8 will make-up the convoy.

Over 6th and 7th May, Silverstone's Grand Prix circuit will play host to the world's motoring elite, from Aston Martin to Ferrari and Porsche to Maserati and many more, in a weekend spectacular of races and special events.

The showpiece of the weekend will be the first round of the FIA GT Championship, with the prestigious Royal Automobile Club Tourist Trophy awarded to the winner.

The Tourist Trophy is one of motor racing's most historic awards and, following its centenary revival in 2005, it is set to continue lighting up the world of 21st century motor sports. Fans will be trackside to see the battle of the titans and cheer the heroes who will ultimately win the coveted trophy, joining past victors such as Sir Stirling Moss and Graham Hill.
