After a debate with some friends about whether you would own a saloon with a snazzy badge, or go for simple practicality, I thought I'd ask. As you know, we went with the Ford. The Ford out lasted the very BMW my dad test drove, and it's still going now. On numerous occassions the Ford has out accelerated BMW drivers who try to over take it, in their 520i's. The Ford averages 44mpg at 80mph on motorway cruises. Does anyone else think that some of these BMWs are a little over rated, and that the humble Ford Mondeo is actually a damn good car at what it does?

Says it all really.

Worst 'my Dad can't even afford a base model BMW and hell is he bitter about it' thread ever.
HAHAHAHAHAHA! Mate my dad could afford a 150000 lambo if he wanted it, but he doesn't. He was under the impression Beemers were fantastic cars, and this was ruined as soon as he drove the Mondeo. Better steering, better acceleration, better price....oh, and it hasn't blown up. I just feel so many people buy certains cars because of the badge, and it just screams out to me that they are too bothered what other people think of them. Inscurity over brains, is what I say.

That just reinforces that you're a , and so is your dad.
And saying things like that means you're a tit. BMW drivers are, more often than not, cocks, and deserve to be humiliated.

Ok guys got the full story from my dad. He was accelerating hard away from a junction, and a BMW tried to pull out and over take him whilst my dad was still accelerating. He couldn't get by. Anyhow, the COCK of a BMW driver then rocketed past my dad in a 30 limit later on, and that's when he saw it was a 520i. BMW = Over rated, Mondeo = Might fine car. End of. And I can laugh at BMW drivers, as they probably have small penises, ugly wives, small insecure brains, and are of small, unmanly stature. This is why I can laugh at them. Like I can laugh at 70% of this forum who are bellends.

Is your brain in your balls? Maybe it got damaged when a PHer kicked you in them.
No my brain is firmly in my head which is why I, unlike so many people these days, can see a cheaper thing with less street cred can be a better option than other things. There are some on this forum who are genuinely nice people, but osme of them are utter idiots who only bother what badge their car has. It really annoys me, and it's why I strike out against these people in such an aggravated manner. People need to learn that what others think of you is NOTHING, it's what you do that counts.

Grow up a bit, read that back, and realise what a prize tt you look.

So what people think of you means nothing? Yet you choose to look down on these people because of their beliefs?
Because they are lesser beings because of their loyalty to the brand image. It's like people who buy the latest fashion. Losers, the lot of em. And I just love to wind you guys up too because you bite SOOOOOOO ing hard.

Wow, I wish I was as cool as you.
You probably do mate, you probably do. And in reply to the person above, Yorkshire is mint. Full of good, hard working people. Not like some soft southern counties where all that matters is how big your house is/what car you drive/how many kids you have in private school.

Like late adolescent bands that jump on musical bandwagons?
I don't jump on bandwagons. If I like ab and, I like them. For example, I stand by the fact I think James Blunt is a decent songwriter, despite the fact lots of people I know slag him off. I also play a popular brand of bass, used by many, because it is damn good. However, I simply do not believe BMWs live up to their rep, and the X5 for example is a complete pile of shite.

Nick you are digging yourself a hole sunshine.

Mondeo better than a 520?? Fair argument that often has been done. I am pleased your father is happy with his purchase. If he had bought a 520 then you would be looking down at the Mondeo owner. It is similar to going to a grammar school. Some pathetic people thing comprehensives are awful, but public schools are stuck up. Stinks of arrogance and so do you.

Your posts get worse here on. Why does a BMW driver have a small penis. Surely if this was the case many less endowed men would suddenly switch to a Mondeo, is that what your Dad did.

A Mondeo 2.0 will be similar in performance to a 520i. It's lighter, class below so should give it a good match. Does it make it better....no! Out and out performance is irrelevant. Did you father ask the small penised man whether he had his foot to the floor whilst he was ringing it in his Mondeo. I think not. If your obesssed with performance try nailing both at 50 in 5th. The BMW has torque, its not a sports car, the Mondeo wouldnt move.

The cars do different things. A 2.0 mondeo is a high spec model, the 520 is a low spec model, they kind of overlap ever so slightly. I dont blame people for getting a Mondeo each to their own. But they depreciate much more, are not as built as well, dealers are pants and unlimately have less going for them. but that is merely my opinion.

This whole thread is rubbish. I, own a MINI Cooper S. I beat a 7-Series of the lights the other day. He is such an idiot and therefore must have such an ugly wife confused He may not have been bothered about racing such an idiot, whilst he sat in his luxury cabin going about his own business. Indeed why would he see the need to race me. This is how you come across. The cars are different end of.

As an aside if a 520i pulled out and your father nailed it he would muller you. Not because he had a 520, but because he had the momentum. By the time the Mondeo had got up to speed the 520 would be long gone. And vice versa. Therefore what you say is shite and as far as I see it so stupid its unreal!

Anyway glad he enjoyed his time with his Mondeo, but like many Mondeo owners one day he will buy the BMW he, im sure, secretly wants and you will eat your words.

smile
You're so wrong. The BMW my dad almost bought blew up at 110000 miles. Our car is still going strong at 113000. So who's laughing now? And yes, my dad's car outdid a BMW 520i. And it'd do it again. And again. In fact, it's such a better car it's possibly the best all round car I can think of. It's economical, reasonably quick, comfy, reliable, has no stigma attached to it like a BMW (which is sad, but if you're all so image concious as you seem to be, take it into consideration), and is also cheaper. I'd never own a BMW ever. They ruined Rover, and anyone who ruins a British Marque will never have respect from me. *evils towards Smolenski*

It's so easy to tell you don't have a driving licence. Anyone who does can see that your dad just managed to out cock a BMW driver. Congratulations, you must be proud.

Anyway if you want to see why people buy the BMW, compare your average P-reg Mondeo with your average P-reg 520i. One will have various bits of trim missing and a squaeky fan-belt. The other one's a BMW. Some people are happy to pay that bit extra for a quality product.

And that's coming from a Fiat driver.
I do have a driving license, and I drive a Fiat Punto. I drive it quite normally, I don't care that it's a 'woman's car'.

Nick, how exactly are 70% of us bellends?
Because 7/10 posts on here reak of people who don't take time to read what I put. Some people are actually nice to me and have my respect. Others, well, let's just hope we don't meet each other, because it'd result in one hell of an arguement.

Sorry again scooter, it's us that are laughing at you. You haven't quite realised that you are never going to be accepted into the community, even when you get out of nappies and get a car, you would be slaughtered if you attended an meet. It's only a matter of time before you get banned by constantly spouting utter shite, my advice is off and don't come back biggrin

Is it just me or does he remind anybody of what Southpaw was like when he first joined? hehe (sorry Southpaw)

I'm taking bets as to what Nickthett looks like. 10-1 he's spotty, ginger, short and wears glasses. That would at least explain the agressive attitude he has!!

Anyway, back to my original questions, which you still haven't answered

I'm actually 5'9, well built, blonde hair, blue eyes, no glasses. If I ever attend a meet, I will not be slaughtered. After hearing what happened with TomTVR and another chap at a meet, I'd rather not go to a PH meet, I don't want to be strangled or glassed, thankyou. Behaviour of louts is all I will say.

Good good then, at least none of us will have to put up with your ginger haired chops smile

Now, how about answering my question. What type of car do you drive?
A Fiat Punto. Il ike it, it's economical, and it's got 5 doors, unlike many of my friends which have 3. It makes a great taxi on a night out too (I dont drink). For someone my age, it's a damn fine car.

So which one is it?

Yes. I am bored and still at work.

I'm with Mr Sharpton here, your OP warrants the insult and your dad's driving from what you describe is definitely worthy

Nothing wrong with Mondeos, but if money wasnt an issue, surely you would go with the ST220 if you were opting for a blue oval?

It's called remortgaging your house. Or he could sell off some of his stamp collection which'd get him 2/3rds of the way there. The reason he didn't buy something like a Lambo is he doesn't find them at all interesting. If he was going to buy a sportscar, he'd buy a TVR.

if someone has to remortgage his house he cannot afford a lamborghini. 90% of people here find lamborghinis interested. therefore by your criteria for wealth lamborghinis should be one of the most popular cars on the road. your father, like mine, is not rich. who cares. he cannot afford a lamborghini, they cost the earth to run. just read evo where they had one on a long term fleet. the servicing alone was more than your dads mondeo.

stop living in the clouds and get a grip with reality, your arrogant, naive and come across a rite old dick.
Ok well he could always sell off some of the stamp collection he's accumulated over the past 30 years, but I think he'd rather gouge out his own eyes. And yes, it's worth more than the average lamborghini.

Well my dad is 6ft2, and he's got a knife, right!

Dude, you are such a troll... and it's not even the school holidays either!

Your dad is clearly as retarded as you for accelerating when people try to overtake him. It's dangerous, fact.
If you read what I put, he was already accelerating when the guy pulled out to overtake him. My dad wasn't just going to slam on the anchors and let him go by was he? That's dangerous, what he did was just continue at the pace he had been before the guy tried to over take him. The BMW driver is the cock because he over took at speed in a 30mph limit. THAT is dangerous.
