as above...is it safe? prob not. need advice and opinions please. l have read through the forums so know what im up against!!

Here is my info for hlping deciding.

my hubs are 4x108. alloys l really like and brought but knew nothing about fitting until too late are 5x100 ET 35. my ET is 15 l think. not far off that anyway. l searched internet and ebay for hub adapters, some frown on them some not, failed to find anywhere that says do not touch them. anyway, its impossible to convert 4x108 to 5x100 as l have been told. great. so l look to sell alloys now. put on ebay twice and they didnt sell. thats cost me a bit already.

Anyway was informed u can change the ALLOY PCD!! hmm, l will look into it. doesnt sound safe but apparently it can be done and no probs.

This guy l spoke to....ian Jemison engineering http://www.alloywheelrepairs.com/ he says he has been altering the PCD of alloys for many years. l didnt find out how, prob weld and re drill? he needs my spare wheel (same as whats on car) plus bolts to get accurate measurements.

Each wheel will cost, £50 plus VAT. courier is £50 there (to yorkshire) and £50 back.
20mm spacers to fit over brembos will be about £40
spigot rings about £10

overall cost £400 approx. cost of alloys, well they are rare, l wont discuss the look or type, just curious to know would it be safe to have all this done? many will say no but if you do please show proof or give examples. many of you are engineers and l am looking for your help. l am a mechanic so know little of metals, leave that to the pro's.

l could try to sell them again, but l really like them, l have 215/55/16 currently and will change up to 225/40/18 if l get the yes for them. Unless anyone has any other ideas. going down the hub conversion is too expensive. unless anyone is up for the challege? l dont want to convert hubs as having to change discs and get a new spare etc plus the rest.

l cat find these alloys in the size l want anywhere. wheel base, kent customs all of them dont do these alloys anymore.

thanks

no its not thom, thats the guy with the VW golf gl! - utterly clueless is his name?!

the alloys being changed to 4 stud holes from 5 l dont know how he is going to do that. and hub adapters, they dont make the sizes l need. u can get hub adapters from 4x108 to 5x108 but thats about as good as l can get. not good enough though. thanks for the help so far though

I looked into this a while back. I'll see if I can find the thread.

There are companies that make pcd hub adapters.
These guys seemed to be the most reputable.
http://www.srbpower.com/hr/spacer-adapters.php already tried them, and HK and others. no joy in my size

They are available in a variety of widths. Of course the width is going to affect the effective offset once fitted. For lots of complicated steering and suspension issues you are best to get as close to the original offset as possible rememebring that if using wider wheels or tyres you will need to make sure you have space in the arch/clear the brake callipers
Here's a handy offset calculator
http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp l will need to use spacers due to brembos but thanks.

Useful for working out suitable donors for wheels, or else the target market for wheels you are selling
http://wheelhelp.net/index.html they dont have my car make there!! : (

yes l know ford have same pcd but not keen on their alloys. l am thinking the whole idea of doing this is bad, but before l shoot myself in the foot and not try first, and realise some months down the line after l have sold the alloys that l could have had them fitted. l just need proof.
