ok:

clio mk2 1.6 rsi - twin headlamp with one being dipped and the other main beam.

on tuesday i noticed the nearside dipped bulb had gone. nowhere was open so i went and bought one last night - wrong bloody bulb! drove to work today hoping to swap it on the way home.

just been out to the car, turned on the lights and i now have no dipped beam at all and only one sidelight. i am 50miles from home although only a 10 min taxi from halfords which is thankfully open until 8pm.

it seems suspicious that both bulbs have gone. for full disclousre i changed all bulbs to halfords extreme brilliance +90% one, but this surely shouldn't make a difference.

i think i may have popped a fuse, but have no idea which is which without my haynes, and tinterweb isn't helping so far.

just about to find security to borrow a torch. i really don't want to get the train home. any help re: fuses will be rewarded with virtual mulled wine and mince pies.

off torch hunting with that as a rough guide, will pop back if no luck. just rang local renault stealer for help but no answer. i guess i should just start looking for burned out fuses hehe

i couldn't get away with driving at all - m18 an m62 all the way home and the unmarked fleet will be out in force at this time of year. that thought lasted all of 1 second.

i found the haynes manual in the boot fortunately, as i'd never have thought to look there for the fusebox hehe

all fuses ok, checked one bulb and the filament had gone so bought a pair of bosch replacements. currently warming up in the office before fitting as i turned into an ice cube on the walk into town.

strange though for both to go, they've only been in a couple of months. lesson learned, they aren't called halfrauds for nothing.
