Car Insurance help for for 17/18 year old

hi, trying to get cheap insurance for my freinds Son, hes 17 and cheapest quote on {any car} is around £6,000 apart from him doing the advanced driving course to get it cheaper, can anyone recommend an Insurance Company they have used that wont break the bank!

it seems any car, we have mainly tried low engine cars, still came silly money..although didnt try old volvo etc,,,
