Nissan Juke - Petrol or diesel?

Missus wants a 1.6 CVT but unsure whether to go for a diesel or petrol.
She wants it to be 'nippy' so any Juke owners know which is best for performance/mpg?
Is there more torque in the derv flavour?

We've had a 335d mapped , c63 and a gt-r and these were only available in auto. We do mainly town/city driving and the autos are just so much better in traffic. Her disco 3 is an auto which she's part exchanging so now a manual just seems a backwards step for what we need.

Juke diesel is out as just found out that only petrol has auto.
