RE: 'Rush' film release date announced
Monday 20th August 2012

Director Ron Howard has announced that his eagerly anticipated Grand Prix film 'Rush' will get its international release on September 20 next year.
'Rush' film release date announced
Hunt vs Lauda biopic gets a premiere date - but it's not until September 2013

The film portrays the 1976 championship fight between James Hunt (played by Australian actor Chris Hemsworth) and Niki Lauda (played by German actor Daniel Bruhl). Although filming was done and dusted earlier this year, Howard has cited complex postproduction sound editing as the main reason for the lengthy wait.
The film's official site has been launched over the weekend along with a new selection of pictures, shown here. A combination of period cars and replicas have been used for filming, with Lauda's fiery Nurburgring crash recreated at the circuit in April, as spied by our own Dale Lomas.
The script has been written by Peter Morgan, who also has Frost/Nixon and The Queen on his CV. Should be worth a look - shame there's a 13-month wait...

I am looking forward to this... i hope will be better than this one

I found that quite amusing. If cars so much as touched wheels they would flip over and explode. Proper comedy fun, improved only by the fact that Stallone took it all so seriously.http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0132245/
Shame about the wait on Rush. Will hie me to the Electric in Brum this time next year
I think it's probably a good thing Howard has planned for it to take so long in post-production - it means he wants to get it absolutely right, and has been allowed to do so by the studio.
-edit-
Thinking about it, complicated audio probably means getting the re-dubbed audio of the cars to match properly with the on-screen footage. That will be a very big job (the logistics of putting a DFV into a sound sage alone are quite impressive I imagine) but it's great that he's bothering; it'll avoid Bullitt style sixteen speed gearboxes if he gets it right.

I agree, we should never complain that he's taking his time to get it just so. "Senna" was hurried in the sound department - don't listen to the engine while looking at what the car's doing in the onboard shots, that's for sure.Really looking forward to it, and that top photo of Lauda's "jealous" stare is excellent

Good for a laugh though!
Howard may forever be Richie Cunningham, but he's got a good track record in making watchable fact based dramas.

Complex post-production sound editing?
Producer: "Who's that speaking?"
Sound engineer: "Lauda."
Producer: "Who's speaking?"
Sound engineer: "Lauda."
Producer: "WHO'S SPEAKING NOW?"

Repeat for 9 months, release film with everything turned up to 11.
