Aston tops dream cars
Survey puts Brits at top of wish list
We are a nation of wannabe James Bonds apparently, with a new poll revealing the Aston Martin DB9 is the country’s ultimate dream car.
Not only did the DB9 take top spot but the Vanquish sneaked in at number three in the survey, giving Aston two podium places.
Sandwiched inbetween the two Brits is the Bugatti Veyron, and in fourth place was new kid on the block, the Audi R8, according to the survey by DVLA registrations.
Established exotica from Ferrari, Porsche and Lamborghini made up the rest of the top ten.
Damian Lawson, marketing manager for DVLA Personalised Registrations, said: ‘It started as a bit of fun.
‘We were promoting our product on some very classy cars to highlight that while cars like this may be a dream for most of us a personalised number can actually be surprisingly affordable.
‘Everyone we talked to seemed to have an opinion on what their dream car would be so we decided to find out which models and marques people would really like to drive.’
Here is a list of the top cars from the survey, do you agree?

Most people wouldn't even recognise one and those that do would universally say it is the ugliest current Ferrari by a long chalk.
I personally think Aston Martin is the most overrated car manufacturer in the world.
Not one of their models does anything better than any of their rivals, other than look (and sound) cool.
But that's obviously all the market demands nowadays.
And as for an SLR...

And of course, they are now a proper British car manufacurer.

I suspect this is a general population survey result and I think its great that AM did well rather than the common old Porker and Fezza

Read this month's evo for how (again) an Aston comes firmly last in their Car of the Year test.
As for "bespoke, quality feel", I'm afraid that can only be the opinion of someone who has not sat in an F430 or 599. Even reliability wise there is no contest, Astons are terrible compared to any of the other prestige manufacturers.
Yes the exterior designs are very elegant, if all derived from the same model, but I just can't take seriously a manufacturer who insists on calling its ignition key an "Emotion Control Unit" or makes the DIC light up "power, beauty, soul" every time you start it...

Oh and it is as "British" as any Kuwaiti-funded, German managed company can be, yes!
