BMW Sunday Service Report
One of the wettest days of the year didn't daunt the PH faithful
We were watching the weather forecasts all week and it didn't look good, but weather forecasters are always wrong we told ourselves...
But despite praying for a dry PH Sunday Service at BMW HQ in Bracknell, needless to say it rained! I arrived at Bracknell at 07.30 and could see the clouds as I approached. Twenty minutes later I was welcoming the first early arrivals and was already soaked through. Yet in spite the monsoon conditions, we had in the region of 370 cars show up making this one of our most successful PH meets ever. As usual, the car park contained a real mixed-bag ranging from a vintage Rolls Royce to a V10 R8. In addition there was an original Fiat 500, a Wood & Pickett Metro Vandan Plas and a smattering of TVRs. Where else could you see this variety of vehicles in the same car park?
We really must send out our thanks to BMW UK, who not only laid on an army of staff to make the event run smoothly but also allowed a host of their own classics to sit in the rain too. Thanks also to the restaraunt staff who laid on a great breakfast at a very reasonable price - if only we could start the day with a breakfast butty like that every morning!
Finally, but most importantly, thanks to those of you who braved the weather and turned up. We never expected almost 400 cars to arrive when we saw the rain falling as hard as it was, but you didn't disappoint. That's what makes PH great, and we appreciate those who shunned a warm bed for a wet carpark, you helped make the day a great success.
Stand by for details of the next PHSS scheduled for December.

As I said in the other thread, Its got me really wanting a 135i coupe now. Does someone want to give me £35k please?
My clapped out old E36 325i was definitely rendered invisible by the Audi R8 that I parked behind. Can't say enough about the helpfulness of the BMW guys. The food was great value for money and the sales/marketing guys stood out in the pouring rain for us lot. Good show I say!

I think we need to all go and drive our gas guzzlers more so that global warming finally kicks in!

Do we get a hint? Sunderland Nissan with a display of Micras and Primeras?...!?
I still have a Wood & Pickett classic Mini tucked away in the back of my garage. Theres a pict of the interior in my profile if anyone wants to check it out. A £33k Mini. And that was nearly 20 years ago! Pretty good workmanship though...

A WP Range Rover I saw some pictures of, had a hydraulic roof that lifted back in a single piece, then the rear seats would raise up above the car.. This was so that rich arabs could go on luxury hunting trips without having to inconvenience themselves with the bother of getting out of the car to shoot!

When money was no object, WP were only too glad to take on jobs like that.
WP is still going today, and is based some place in Surrey. Its not quite the specialist coach builders it used to be though. It is more of a Mini dealer/specialist now. They still do some respectable work on Mini's though. Just not quite so radical these days.
