Detective cars for sale

Classified ads throw up TV cop cars

With filming of the new Miami Vice blockbuster underway, memories of Detective Sonny Crockett’s Ferrari Testarossa will come flooding back for many.

And if you have a spare £31,995 in the bank, you too could dream of Florida skies and a pet alligator with a quick flick through the classifieds.

Cars and TV detectives go hand-in-hand, and the private ads are a goldmine of iconic motoring gems.

Cardata.co.uk has done some digging around in the used car ads and come up with a list of detective-related cars, as follows:

As far as I can remember and I was an avid Miami Vice fan, Sonny Crockett drove a Ferrari Daytona, don't remember a Testarossa at all?

Crockett's Daytona was in the first series, which got blown up in the series finale.

He then drove a testarossa in subsequent series, in white would you believe

That capri has to be worth £1200 of anyones money just so you can say "see my Capri? - is the one from the professionals that."

Is it a 2.8?

Even then it was a Corvette based replica....

The way I read this article is that these are prices for these types of cars -- not the actual cars that were used.

Yep, both the silver and gold Capris from the Professionals have been bought and restored by Capri enthusiasts.

Yes, but 700 notes for a Sierra Estate and over 6 Big Ones for a Rover 75?

Bit optomistic, methinks ...

They had one real Testarossa for close-up's supplied by Ferrari of North American and several stunt cars that were fakes. The original Daytona was a fake as well.

The 308 on Magnum P.I. was the real deal and they even gave Tom Selleck one for himself. At 6'4" the only way he could drive it was with the targa roof removed.

I may be opening myself up here for a bit of stick but i thought the White Testarossa was Cool! I like White Supercars!!

Yeah, I remember the Daytona getting blown up at the end of that series, but I just can't remember a white Testarossa, hmm, obiously my subconcious mind blocked that out.

I'm trying to block out the horrendous fashion trend that Sonny Crockett (AKA Don johnson) set in the mid 80's. Pastel coloured t-shirts worn with pastel coloured sports jackets, with baggy white parachute trousers, sandels, dodgy mullet, and George Micheal facial stubble. Suppose the white ferrari was the perfect fashion accessory for him.

If we include PI's as well:

Bergerac (detective) had that awful Triumph Roadster.

Frank Cannon had a Ford LTD - or was it a Lincoln?

Starsky & Hutch (detectives)- Ford Gran Torino

Michael Knight - Trans Am

Jim Rockford - Pontiac Firebird

Quincy - Ford or Lincoln Station Wagon.

Burt Reynolds in Junior Cop - 1st gen Camaro Z28

Old fogies. Didn't Jason King in Department S have an E-Type?
