New Bugatti Galibier Concept Revealed

These are the first images of Bugatti's long-awaited new saloon concept, which is due to be unveiled at the Frankfurt motor show tomorrow.

It's called the Bugatti Galibier 16C, a name taken from an Alpine pass and which also adorned Bugatti saloons in the 1930s.

It might look like the lovechild of a Porsche Panamera and a Bugatti Veyron, but this is going to be one seriously quick super-saloon. The Veyron donates its W16 engine to the new concept, but two-stage superchargers replace the Veyron's quad-turbo set-up.

Bugatti is pretty silent about potential power figures, but expect at least 900lb ft of torque and an expected top speed in excess of 240mph - which would make the Galibier the fastest saloon car in the world.

Don't expect a four-door Bug any time soon, however: a production version is at least three years away.

Impressive as the figures are, I despair that any human feels they should need that sort of glitter-encrusted nonsense.

I hate the coupe style rear ed of this and the panamera. It doesn't work.

LOVE the interior though, nice to see some wood in place of overused aluminium.

I can't say the looks do much for me either, but the use of interior materials and the quality of the detailing looks superb.

Regardless of what you think, I bet it will be fantastically engineered!

As a man who thinks the panamera the vilest thing ever styled, I have to confess I do like this - annoyingly for Porsche, it actually carries off the rear end styling quite successfully without looking like a Mondeo. The front is probably a bit too much like a Jag-cum-Saab but nevertheless, I think it still works.

What doesn't work is the two-tone 80's/SMART car thing. it's vile and should be consigned to history. Show me one in a nice gunmetal and I think it would look very cool.

At least the Bugs' are in a straight line.

I'm with you on that. It looks like a better Panamera to me too. I actually really like it. The polished aluminium isn't working for me, and neither is the minimalist interior, to be honest. The inside doesn't seem to go with the outside IMO.

Looks like the car to go for if you want a Phantom with a bit less restraint or a Maybach with a bit less Kia.
