Pic Of The Week: Ferrari Sunset

A moment of stillness soon to be shattered by a 5999cc Ferrari V12...

It's not often one of the PH editorial team manages to crack off a shot worthy of POTW consideration, but consenus in the office suggests this one might have a bit of what it takes.

In pursuit of a fitting visual finale to this week's Ferrari 599 HGTE article, I pulled over at the roadside in a beautiful location for this sultry shot of the car simmering down towards the end of a long drive north from London.

It's surprising how well it turned out, considering I grabbed it with a cheap and cheerful Sony digital camera, but I'm glad I stopped for it now. I took others which showed more of the back of the car thinking they would be nicer, but thanks to the flash going off all you can see is the number plate... Ho-hum!

I don't want to be a negative nancy, but for the widescreen version can we have 1680*1050 instead? That's by far the most common 16:10 ratio these days, and it stretches and compresses nicely to both 1440*900 and 1920*1440.

Agreed - I was just thinking that! Or if people have uber-screens nowadays, can we please add a 4th link at 1680*1050?

Thanks!

Or dare I be the total luddite and ask for some more "normal" resolutions, like 1280x1024 and 1600x1200?

Or you could use the supersize, and resize it yourself, everybody has got a different resolution nowadays wink

Very nice picture! pitty the Jpeg correlation in the reflection of the fezza makes it look unsharp.

The supersize is the wrong aspect ratio, so although it's relatively simple it means I have to break out the image editor and fart around. In the end, when someone's creating these images, they've already cropped it and PH logo'd it, why can't we have 1680*1050 in the target size box? tongue out

Sorry chaps, we had planned to use that for this weeks POTW, but needed to await permission from the owner.

Permission has now been granted, so expect to see it soon thumbup

Hmm think it needs a bit of lightening, as i need to put it into photoshop to resize it anyway (1280 x 800) here we go.

I mentioned about sizes ages back and was poo-poo'd. I had 1680*1050 as well, although I now have 1920*1080 which is not a size they offer either. I've not ever seen a monitor with a native size of 2048*1536...!

I just look at the pics on the screen and never bother with them for desktops now.

I disagree, it looks far more impressive before being messed with. The lightened version just looks like an average photo, nothing special.
